I was getting caught up with what has been posted, so I thought I would add some more info. I'm 52, married with three kids, 23, 19 and 17. I started hunting late, so none of my kids hunt. This is my 4th year hunting and the only deer I have shot with a bow I never found, so I am pretty much a total newb. I haven't done much with cameras this year. There are a couple of decent bucks in the area I hunt. Just have to be lucky enough to be in the right place when they decide to pass through the property I hunt. My season starts Sept 19, but I won't be able to hunt opening weekend due to daughters volleyball tournament and a family wedding. The following weekend should be all mine though. When I do get out this is the rig I will be hunting with: Good luck to everyone. I can't wait to start seeing pictures.
Welcome to the team wings. That's a really nice looking setup you have. Hopefully you get to spill some blood with it. So I went and checked a few cameras this afternoon and had one of the hitlisters showing up on a couple different cameras. I think he is very killable, but I'm not going to try and kill him. I'm gonna let my wife try to kill him since I am really only focused on one particular buck. I'm just staying away from Mr clean right now. I know where he is and I don't want to mess anything up. As long as he doesn't go crazy and decide to leave the area he's been in his whole life then I feel pretty good about things.
View attachment 61392 my hit list buck for public land. i've got a lot of buck pic this year but he is the biggest and the only one legal for me to shoot. pa ar suck
Tomorrow I'll be planting another food plot and moving a couple stands. I'll be wrapping that up and heading to Idaho on Friday. I cant wait. On another note, I got me a new hunting truck yesterday. I bought me a new 2015 double cab tacoma in the off road package. So far I love it and think it will be exactly what I need.
I'll try and send updates of I have signal there, but I think it's probably pretty unlikely. I had one elk hunting trip prior to this and just feel like it's something I need to be doing every year. Just something about being in the mountains.
Had a great morning. I went to move a couple stands and put in my last food plot. I ended up seeing 4 of my target bucks, although none of them was Mr Clean. I ended up seeing 4 different 4.5 year olds and two 3.5 year olds. They were all out in broad daylight and didn't have a care in the world. I almost wish I would be home for the opener instead of going to Idaho. Almost.....
Maybe without any pressure they will still be relaxed and waiting for you to get back. I'm missing the opener for the first time in years but not for elk hunting.
I think they should be okay for when I get back. I'm just afraid they are gonna break apart their bachelor groups and start sticking to the woods a little more.
well guys opening wknd in Ky was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saw 1 deer saturday morning, thats it. On the flip side weather is calling for a front moving in late week, highs in the mid 70s this coming wknd. Hopefuly that will help with deer movement
