I made it out yesterday afternoon only to have another hunter walk right thru the bedding area and setup 100 yards from me and then on the walk out I noticed the headlamp of another hunter setup in the same area as the other hunter just a few hundred yards farther down .... URGHHHHHHHHH I hate having other hunters anywhere near me, I saw zero deer.
I went to all the trouble to take the long walk in from the back so I wouldnt bump deer out of the thick stuff only to have him walkin the easy and fast way from the front right thru the thick bedding stuff :(
And then to add insult to injury I tore a muscle in my calf walking out and can barely walk. I have to walk on my tippy toe for it not to hurt so Im home alternating ice and heat instead of hunting or working :(

oooh man! that sux! hope you heal fast. and yes that sux that idiots set up near you. Back a few years ago a friend of mine took me up to paper company land in Adams Wi for gun season. He set me up on ridge. come light there must've been about 20 other guys hunting the same bowl I was hunting! LOL!

Just had two does and a small buck skirt past. Very windy and didn't hear them until they were right on top of me.

Sitting out this morning. At first light this guy came by and rubbed the heck out of the small pine tree. Only thing I saw this morning.

KG- how's the heart issue? all good?

we're doing pretty good points wise. I was just thinking that I should've been gone up north for the week hunting with sharp eye sam. Each year plan to hunt together and something always comes up. this year is was my issues that stopped us. Maybe next year we'll gtg. dang stupid ankle.

    good luck there guys!

Only a few days left of work then I'm off until the 16th. Drew back on a doe Sunday morning, needed her to take 2 more steps and a small 6 came and ran her off. Things are starting to heat up. Leaning towards a midday sit on Saturday.
Still waiting on the little one to come along which should be any day, due on the 31st so I'm sure that's going to change my plans are bit.lol

Its a pulled soleus muscle in the my calf, Stage 2. just needs time to heal, I was walking and I heard my calf go POP, followed by instant pain and I had to painfully limp my way back to my car with my climber on my back. And Yes Getting Old SUCKS !!! They say 4-6 weeks to fully heal but I have never been one to stay down, even after a partial finger amputation I was back working in the Bow Shop I managed a couple of days later. So hopefully a couple of more days of rest and Ill be back at it again ;)
So Im gonna rest it a couple more days with cold therapy and calf compression, Im off work resting it plus its gonna rain here all day :(

Ya KG what have you heard for an update on the heart issue ?

Lady, good to hear that resting will fix your problem. Kg, I think everything will be o.k for you, hang in there buddy. My next sit will be this Friday morning, I have four stands loaded in the truck and after I hunt the morning my sons will meet me at the farm to put them up.

I have four spots I have stayed out of that are between the field and a bedding area. Going to sneak in midday and put them up. I also will be attempting to use my climber Friday afternoon, not sure how that will play out with me having surgery four months ago. I may get 20 feet up and not be able to get back down, so around 6:45 pm Friday if you hear a thud, that is me jumping to the ground.......just kidding. Time for the old man to get serious and put some points on the board !!!!!

P.S And yes..................it does suck getting old)

lady forge, give that injury time to heal right. If you don't it'll just take longer to heal up and you don't want to damage it any further than it is.
and yes I agree it sux to get old. Like one old guy I knew used to say, "getting old isn't for sissies".

KG I hope your boy gets his first deer too. Be sure to bring your camera or phone to capture that moment. I'll never forget the smile on my boy's face when he got his first deer, ear to ear grin.

Went out this morning and got soaked. To make things worse, I didn't even see as much as a squirrel. Got wet again this afternoon. I watched a covey of quail scurry thru the woods. I was thinking I would soon see a coyote or bobcat behind them but it was three does pushing them along.

It's been as dry as a gourd the last couple of months leading up to my vacation. Got soaked again this morning. Where was all this rain when I needed it on my food plots? Sun came out this afternoon and the wind is out of the NW. Perfect wind for hunting my target buck.

good luck there RB. All that rain is from the hurricane that hit Mexico a few days ago and finally made it way up here. I just watched the news and there's snow on the ground in upper Wisconsin. It's coming.

1 more day of work, trip to the chiropractor tomorrow afternoon to get the back in shape for all day sits starting Friday...seen a buck chase another buck off and then bed with doe this morning. Bucks are getting frisky, should be good time to start getting more aggressive with calls and rattles..
