Well, rifle season is over. I only went out twice. Got that little thing on opening day - nothing the second day. I just wasn't feeling it - I really don't care for gun season at all. But, thankfully I went out because DH didn't get anything in NY and didn't fill his doe tag here so any meat helps! Going to look at our bow spot this weekend and stick a camera back out. If it looks promising, I'll attempt late season weather depending.
Good luck if you go out Kristen. Here in SW Virginia I am seeing a BUNCH of deer. I am talking standing by the substation at the power plant and they just pour out of the woods at dusk.
I'm hoping to get out once this weekend...for the first time in 3 weeks. 35° with snow sounds good to me.
It's interesting for sure. We had an incident yesterday that resulted in poop covered walls. She's just awesome. 2 man treestands are on the xmas list!
A neighbor told me that a 12 point is running my gas well road...putting a camera up tomorrow to see if this is accurate or not. If we get action - I will be out the day after Christmas.
It looks like I am going to get a sit in this afternoon. The pics have been disappointing since gun season, so I'll probably hit up my urban doe property. Should still be a good time...
I had 3 does feeding toward me at 4:15. They shouldn't have been able to smell me, but at about 60 yards the lead doe got spooked by something and they circled back where they came from. I'll give it another shot here soon...
Merry Christmas to you all as well. Hubby got me a tree stand. I really didn't need one, but he says it'll be quieter. Guess we'll see.
AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the best Christmas gift I could have wished for today!!! The buck that I feared someone had poached...the one I was pretty sure someone had poached....I pulled cards today and he was on two of the properties three cameras!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap, I'm so excited...and relieved...omgosh omgosh omgosh!!!!!! I was so disappointed thinking that deer got nailed by a spot lighter it pretty much ruined my season. Knocked the winds right out of my sail after he vanished. I secretly held out a bit of hope that he'd show back up or that I'd at least find the rack and carcass in one of the fields but I didn't really think I'd ever see him again! Just goes to show a person should never give up on these animals! Hope everyone had as good a Christmas as I've had!
That's awesome covey.....my day went the opposite....hunted my lease yesterday and heard gunshots.... I found 4 people with guns on the property....on Christmas day! And gun season is closed! All I had was my bow....I was scared to death honestly....but tried to be as intimidating as possible as it was 4 to 1. Their excuse was "we didn't know this was private property".......guess they figured nobody would be there on Christmas.....WRONG! People amaze me.....
