I think it's ok, I had to edit my score cause it didn't count the 9th point, it had it as a deduction on mine
Good looking out guys...I'm slacking on the captain responsibilities. I got skunked for the second time this season. Pulled cards to find that all the bucks have gone nocturnal...4-5am specifically.
I ain't skunked until the last minute of the last day of season here. As soon as I get the rest of my crop out and marketed then it's game back on. Chances are still pretty decent for me to add some antler points yet. I have this 12v heated suit so I can brave some pretty nasty weather.
Unibrow broke his other side off! I saw him on 10/26 with a full left side...on 10/29 he showed up on cam as a big spike. I didn't realize it was him until just now.
I had a spike, forkie, and 6-8 pointer 5 yards away just before shooting light. They were chasing a doe then started brawling in the creek. Pretty cool experience!
100" 8 pointer walked by later in the morning and really got my itchy trigger finger going. Instead, I hit the grunt tube and messed with his head a little.
We're getting hammered with snow right now...stopped bean harvest for sure. Effing weather.... I may throw the heated suit on and hit the stand hard the next couple of days once this snow stops. (assuming it does)
I'm north of Ft. Scott, radar shows us just inside the back edge of this *$#&**ed mess, hopefully it shuts the heck off and SOON. I've never had standing crop in snow and this is really pi$$ing me off.
We only got like 1.5" here in NW IL. Still some standing corn here and makes me itch. Fortunately in the valley to the west of our property they picked yesterday so hopefully this afternoon (last shot till the orange army takes over next weekend) they pushed on our property. Not much this am. Two small bucks and some turkeys. Plan to head back out in about an hour. Not sure whether to hunt corn, bean, clover or turnips as we have all four on our property but figure with this snow and cold weather they will be out early hitting food sources. Been seeing does, yearlings and small bucks.....where'd all the mature ones go!!!! Seems every doe on our property is already bred.
Mature bucks are already locked down with does here. As soon as they get done with her they find another one pretty quick and start over. Heavy brush seems the best bet right now in my area.
That buck I shot the other day was chasing a doe, but it wasn't mature. Well for around here a 2.5 year old on public land is mature. Once the orange army hits the woods the Monday after Thanksgiving it's slim pickings for late season.
