On film with traditional....so cool. That is a mature deer nice work. Make sure you have two picks with you the deer and your bow.
He will be okay to go with just the video "3a. If you harvest the deer on film and can provide footage of you shooting the animal along with post-recovery footage including hunting, animal, and bow, that will suffice in place of two photos. Footage must be posted online for everyone to see." Such a great video of the kill. I loved how close and personal. It felt like I was there. Congrats again!
Well, we are probably close to six inches of snow - more coming. Lake effect snow warning until 4am. Oh joy 5-9" tonight)! This is more like rifle season then archery! Anyone going out tonight?
Between Scooter's buck and TroyS's buck but we are moving back up the standings. I will be out all day tomorrow and Saturday in Pa. I hope to at least see a buck. I have not seen one since I called that 7 pt a couple weeks ago.
Just had to jump over here an tell you that was an awesome shot an buck Congrats to u sir makes me wanna pick up traditional even more very nice!!
I have to admit I woke up at 5am and it was 18 degrees here in the laurel mountains of SW Pa and I decided to skip a morning sit. I just do not own warm enough clothes to archery hunt these temps and still be able to shoot my bow. I get cold very easily these days. It is 22 now so it warmed up a little, but dang it's too early to be so cold already. A Heater Body Suit may be an investment I make for next year.
This is my current problem. We got over a foot of snow yesterday. It is in the 20's today - with our feel like temp in the low 20's. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to pull my bow back once I get cold - which is usually not too long after I go in (despite however many layers I wear).
I don't know what to think. We got about a foot and half of snow where we hunt. DH went out today to get his climber to take to NY to hunt tomorrow. He saw two sets of tracks by my stand, a couple by his Grandfathers (which sits on the main trail to the upper cornfield), and then only a set by his. He jumped a single doe in the middle. We're still under lake effect snow warning until tomorrow morning. I really think it's going to be a bad weekend to hunt. What would you guys say?
Would go out. Can't get one from my living room ,lol. But we each have to decide what's best. Some don't handle the cold as well. Good luck with your choice. I'm heading out in the morning for our opening day of our gun season.
I could have. At some point today a deer went through my front yard. Have nice snow prints! I didn't go out. Feel kind of blah. Hoping it's not a bug coming on. Working in a doctors office gives me all that lovely stuff.
I was really hoping to shoot a bigger buck for points for the team, but this is a hard earned Pa "mountain" buck. About 1 mile from the parking area. It was running a doe hard, and really rutted up (stinky). I saw the doe first and I considered shooting it until I realized it was looking past me at something. Then I saw the buck. He was frozen watching the doe, as soon as she started moving the buck started and walked be slightly quartering away offering a perfect shot. I am very happy to take a buck hunting public land big woods. I will score it tomorrow but it won't be very high. 22 yard shot, double lung complete pass through, 75 yard recovery.
