My husband said they were moving quite a bit this morning. I of course had to work so no option to go out for me. Full moon helps, too.
I am going out Friday for an all day hunt. Going to be a little windy with a 60% chance of rain and temps in the low 50's. Not ideal weather, but I am hoping that this time of the year the bucks will be cruising anyway. I will setup on a treeline between a doe bedding area and some cropland, so hopefully I can get it done!
I'm heading out in the morning for the whole weekend. Hope to fill my 2nd buck tag and a doe tag for the team. Can i count a 2nd buck as 50 points or does it have to be a doe? Good Luck to all who go out!
Yeah I bet. I always feel for farmers/farm workers when the weather does not cooperate for them to do their job properly. Like a dumbA I started a new job Oct 13th. I don't know what I was thinking switching jobs during archery season. Next year I will be able to plan my time better but being new I am kind of stuck right now.
I had this guy at 40 yards today and couldn't pull the trigger. I didn't think he was this big (oops!). Saturday I'll be ambushing him from a natural ground blind.
I got a short hunt in this evening. Got to a stand late but had a fair sit anyway. I had three bucks walk within range but were all doinkers...the curse of little fellers continues, lol. For whatever reason, activity here is just now starting to pick up. Getting a really late start this year. Rubs and scrapes started early but petered out early on and it's been dead ever since. I started seeing new rub and scrape activity yesterday though and the bucks tonight were all traveling alone...hold on to your butts. Congrats to your hubby Pony, that's a nice one! Good luck AirE, that's a good looking buck too. We're going to learn sooner or later to stop letting these big eights walk, lol.
Airenlow that is a good buck! Good luck. I might get 2 hrs in tonight if this insane wind dies down if not it will be tomorrow.
I took a few hours off this afternoon - but, like Mike, we have some crazy wind (and cold/rain). I'll be out regardless - I need to get something!
I'm hoping so. I am in the process tossing up ideas around of where to go. I'm kind of in a pickle. My normal spot is pretty much wide open now due to the leaves falling. I haven't seen much activity there since the small game hunters went through. Had four pictures on my camera...I was averaging 200 a week. The next stand is my husbands old stand. I usually see 1-2 deer a sit - but nothing more. The shots are limited. If you don't catch them coming in, you wont be able to shoot. Which is tough being new and trying to do this. Lastly my husband said I can take his other climber and go in the back with him where he shot his big boy yesterday. He is averaging at least 2-3 different bucks a sit - BUT I've never used a climber in my life and don't think my first time should be hunting. Though the deeper woods are proven better, it just isn't wise, IMO. I have no idea where to go. Hope others on our team have luck this weekend!
