Booner, what did yours score? Were on right track. We have some problems this morning. Chasing trespassers around. Offering money today for full hunting rights. Its already private land...we will see.
That sucks! I'm having trouble here at home as well. One of the local twits from town is hunting on the south neighbors property. When I say this guy is a twit I mean he really is like a shade above mentally challenged. Known him since I was a kid and he's a moron. I expect he's walking the property lines pretty hard because that's how he hunts. I just pulled my camera cards this morning and had the fewest pics in a weeks pull that I've had all summer on any pull. Nothing I can do as long as he stays off my property and so far I don't have any pics of trespassers on camera.
I had my best day of hunting ever! A cool young buck was hanging around at 18 yards, but I let him walk. He was grunting up a storm and scent checking the bedding areas. Then a decent 8 point was chasing does 75 yards behind my stand. I hit the can call a couple times, but he ran off after the doe herd. I pulled cards on 2 properties and have some nice bucks showing up now. No super regular daytime visitors though. Here is the buck from this morning...
I didn't add up the numbers but looks okay from what I saw. Don't forget to add time of kill and everything to the entry.
Good job guys! I'm in the tree again as I type. Almost willing to bet it'll be a dud night. Those guys this morning were small game hunting. My husbands grandfather has a written letter from the land owners attorney that he has all say in what happens with the hunting. Needless to say, he was quite angry and looks like we will be rifle hunting here, too. The guys were given a warning last time, but did it again....you don't mess with this family, lol. If they come back again they'll be cut off permanently.
Well I pulled most of the cards from cameras today except for 5. Without exception, all cameras were way dawn on pic counts on every farm. Feeders were still heavy with feed. I have not looked but my best guess is that the white oaks are heavy into shedding their acorns here. The only camera I had that had anywhere near normal numbers was the corn cam which had ~550 pics on it and that's about 50% off from normal. Sucks to go from ~10000 images per week to 10% of normal.
We'll I had some more interesting action tonight, I sat in a ground blind on a small food plot (<.25 acres) and had a doe get pushed around by a small 5 pt who proceeded to make a scrape in front of me and then go grunting like crazy after the doe. That was around 5:30 and he showed back up at the end of the night from a different direction and made another scrape there. Seems like the young ones are starting to get antsy, only a little while longer and hopefully the big boys will start moving!
WOw guys (and girl) after the update we're basically tied for second place and there's only like 40 points between the top three spots! Congrats everyone, that's a good accomplishment at this point in and of itself! Good job everyone, we're giving it a heck of a go this year! A buddy of mine shot a nice 8 point this morning! Not one of our local deer either so all mine are still on the hoof as far as I know!
Congratulations to everyone ! Keep it up. I seen one deer all weekend! And it was across the bean field 300+yards away. Hopefully next weekend is better
Yep 562 1/2 vs 561 3/4 between second and third. If we can drop a couple more bucks I like our chances.
