Not here, I have too much going on and they have rain in the forecast continuously for the next five days. If I can catch a sizable window in the rain I may make it out to a stand. Worked my butt off yesterday getting the last of my corn out and did manage to get that done.
Glad you got corn out! The farmer next door to my friends farm in Ohio was having trouble due to all the rain. He got every thing in late because of it and now having trouble getting it out.
That sucks, makes one appreciate the years when operations go relatively smooth a hell of a lot more though, lol.
Yeah that's a bummer because I am only taking one doe on the farm I hunt so I am staying in Pa this weekend. I got the new bow set up and shooting fixed blades great at 20 yards. I'll get them flying out to at least 40 tomorrow. It is tuning very easy. I'll take better pics soon too.
Glad your bow set up is going very easy! That will make you feel much better for tomorrow! Got up this morning around 5, look out the bedroom window and there is a deer. The motion light on the back of the garage turned on, spooked it and it went running. Didn't get a good look. I'm just guessing a doe. Was hoping that means today will be a good day to hunt! I will be leaving work at 230 run home then head out!
Yeah switching bows in the season is not something I would normally ever do so I was worried. But this is a sweet shooter and tuning super easy. At least out to 30 yards I am confident I can shoot it just as well as my Experience. Good luck today!
Well, I don't know how to say this exactly but I'm sick to the bone. This morning I had high expectations of killing a nice buck. Well the doe came first and I was at full draw for a solid 2 minutes, because she was behind a tree. I could barely feel my arms when I was letting down but when I was, the thumb release caught my coat and sent the arrow flying. You think that's bad, listen to this. I was waiting patiently, cause I knew the morning wasn't over. So wouldn't you know it, here's comes a pretty nice buck right at 10 yards. I get the camera positioned, pull back, stopped the buck, and THWACK. But it wasn't the thwack I was lookin for. I ended up hitting my camera arm, sending the arrow just above its back. I literally came an inch away from spineing it, which wouldn't of been the shot I would've wanted, but at least I would've got him. I don't what to say other than keep bowhunting.
Sometimes filming just isn't worth it - between getting everything set up to it getting in the way. Sorry you missed a great sounding deer. Hopefully he will be back around (and at 10 yards again - oh how I dream of that!).
Shhh. Took Monday morning off. I have an "appointment". I have to be back to work at noon Supposed to be nice out - hopefully they'll be moving because it's supposed to be near 70* as a high.
Nothing is moving tonight. Saw one about fifty yards away. Saw five different raccoons. That was a first. Debating trying in the morning or not.
Well I shot another doe tonight and passed up a pretty good lookin 8 point. Not a bad evening if I do say myself
Good job BM...wish I could have one close enough to even try to shoot! Went out this AM, all settled in before day break. Right around 8am up comes a truck through the field/little roadway. No idea who it is. The road has a locked gate on it. So I'll assume they drove around it on the tractor trail. Buy they go right past my tree, lock truck in 4wd (as it clunked) and proceed up. I wait ten minutes thinking maybe something will be spooked down. Nothing. Next I hear either a chainsaw or it was them stuck, spinning tires. So irritated. I left. Husband went duck hunting so I texted him, he has no idea who it is based off vehicle description. I won't go see because most don't know me. But with us being only ones with bow hunting rights on this property - I want to know what they're doing. Possibilty it could have been the farmer, but usually they do field stuff during week when noone is there. This is only the first week, but it's a continuation of my luck from last year.
Bummer Kristen. I hate when stuff like that happens. I am finally getting back out this afternoon. I wanted to shoot my bow and broadheads a little more so I didn't head out this morning. But I'll be in a tree this afternoon for sure.
Well it must be going around....i missed a good one last night. 140 class 9pt. Thought he was 40...he was 30...first deer I've missed in years.....not happy
Well at least I can honestly say I've not missed a deer this year, lol. I've got to start getting out to a stand...so much to do...
