Got soaked and froze. Wind is very gusty. Left early, everything is hunkered down. I'll try this evening.
I went out yesterday and watched 5 does feeding on acorns by my truck all night. We got the 8 hour birthing class out of the way today, so I'm free to hunt til the baby comes. I will be hitting the woods in the morning for a chilly 38* sit.
It was 37° this morning. This evening was 46° to start, but windchill was low 30s. Feel like tonight temp is 25°. Unfortunately, I did a four and a half hour sit tonight and only saw two. A little basket 6 and couldn't tell on the other...both out of bow range. Husband saw two shooters a "big" boy and a basket 8. Let the basket walk and didn't get a shot to the big boy. Next time we both will get is Friday...got to love work. But we saw something. First time I seen a buck archery hunting, pretty cool!
I was planning to head to Ohio today to hunt but woke up with a nasty head cold. Looks like I am home bound today.
I really wish I could have gotten out this weekend with the temps dropping down into the low 30s in the mornings. My Dad went up and checked cams and saw we've had a few decent buck walking around during the daytime and petty close to some of our stands. Guess I'll have to do my hunting through you guys for a little while longer.
I went out this morning with my boy, we had 4 does cross the field at 90 yards. Good time for his first time out with me. I saw the scorecard was updated, one buck for our team and we will be in 1st place!
I checked the cam, and if I would've stayed another hour in the stand on opening day morn, I would've had a big buck on the ground. I had to head in early cause of work. Here's a nighttime pic of him. He's pretty nice.
Good luck Covey (and everyone!). Nice buck, buckmaster. You'll cross paths at some point, hopefully! I got out of my stand early, too. I wish I had more time out!
In the stand now behind the camera. First time out....feels good! I'm filming for the competition. Sorry but getting a buck for fellow staffer Tim A is my number one priority. Cross our fingers he gets one early in the year! Good luck everyone.
Well, I passed on a small 8 point this morning at 15 yards. Seen a bunch of does and fawns this morning as well. This evening was a whole different story......didn't see a thing until last light. A doe came out and walked around in front of my stand until I had to scare her away at dark. I've got my fingers crossed because I'm gonna stay out for 2 weeks then it'll be on like donkey kong!!!! Good luck to everyone!!!
Always a bummer, isn't it, Josh? Do you have a certain "hit lister" you're after? I put a camera out by my stand. I'm excited to see what is on it (haven't had a camera there all year). I'll check it Friday when I head back out.
I went out this morning, didn't see anything but a little fork 70 yards down range. Had to get back to cutting corn this afternoon and didnt hunt. I did kick up a big wide 8 point out of some milo next to the cornfield though.
