I've not been back out lately. I spent all day today with a fish biologist shocking fish and taking population surveys...damn..I'm beat. Covered about 100 acres of water in total today wit ha flat bottom boat and two dip nets! Found some 5-6 pound bass and some 17" crappie though! It was an absolute blast!
Good thinking. It's challenging to film and hunt but be careful as it's easy to get hooked. Once you are you will find yourself searching for the next piece of B roll, the next leaf that's fluttering in the right light, the next bug crawling on a branch....etc. It makes the whole experience that much more fullfilling if you can put it all together and capture it on film. Good luck with it.
Thanks Troy. Just playing around with it in the yard doing dry runs (I have a stand set up to practice shooting out of so I used it to also practice setting up the camera) I can see it's going to be fun but challenging. I can also see me wanting better equipment if I stick with it lol. I am a gear junky.
Give em hell out there tomorrow! I'm doing some last minute prepping. Still have to pack my backpack and wash camo. It's a good thing I'm not heading out early.
I had 3 does and 3 fawns around me from 7-8. I tried to draw on the biggest doe (at 12 yards), but she whipped around and pegged me. I panicked and attempted to hold at half draw until she looked away. She never did. What seemed like 3 hours later, I pulled all the way back and she came unglued...scattering everybody. It was a fun night and a definite learning experience.
I shot a doe at 7:30am. I'll load the other pics and put it on the scoreboard in the morning. 16 yard shot, a little back but angled through.
Thanks man. I have been shooting a lot, I have no idea why my shot was a little to the right with it that close. Luckily it was slightly quarter away so the arrow got a good angle. Back at camp I shot some shots (took my 18-1 along) and it is still on so it was something I did. Torqued the grip, punched the trigger, something. I am just glad it worked out.
Yeah, no telling what caused it. My guess would be a slight change in form maybe due to movement restriction in the stand or something, doesn't take much.
Thanks. I was hoping to take a doe early so I can relax a little and concentrate on a nice buck in Ohio. Every once in awhile I get lucky and things go as planned . I agree Covey. I practice out of a stand but you can never 100% replicate the real thing through practice.
Just pulled the card on the ol' trail cam and found some suprises on it. Didn't have an extra sd card, so I had to take pictures with my iPod. What do u think they score?
Thanks Coop! Yah they are pretty nice and yah the picture quality is really bad. The most recent one was last night and its actually right under the tree stand. Im guessing 140's on the big 10 point, but not totally sure about the 3 other bucks.
I need to get to a computer to see pictures. Shooting good this weekend! My opener is next Saturday high of 60°. Should be a good morning. Were moving right up on the score board. I hope to add some sort of points!
