Well I'm on spring break this week so no school for me. Went out this morning and listened for birds on one of the properties that I hunt, very few gobbles off the roost but 5 strutters and close to 25 hens came feeding into the hay field. I'm sure they will split up by the time by season coms but normally there is 3-4 toms that stay all spring. Fingers crossed!

Opening weekend here in Sodak was less than impressive. Got on some birds that were gobbling decently, but had a lot of other people around also. Pretty tough hunting. On a positive my class schedule allows me to hunt mornings, so hopefully I will get a chance soon. Hope everyone's seasons are going well.

I went out Saturday and Sunday. Wasn't far off the roost Saturday but they went the other way. The jakes came in Sunday but I wasn't ready to fill my tag. They would have been in trouble if they had gone to my nephew's blind!!

    Good luck!!

Hey y'all I'm a student at Northern Illinois University. I'm a special education major there. The birds are heating up around here where I am located. I was I used able to draw a 5th season tag here due to my class schedule. Hopefully I can get myself on a nice old long beard.

Hey guys I haven't been stopping in much, it's been so cold and still a good bit of snow on the ground, just doesn't feel like turkey season yet! Our season starts May 1st this is the latest we have had snow in probably 8-10 years, at least in this quantity. I'm hoping it will push the breeding a little later into may rather than just about being over like we've seen the last few years. I haven't been in the woods much, I believe there is still 2'+ of snow in the woods where I would like to be hunting, lots of rain coming this week so as long as the birds survived we should be looking good to get out and start locating!

More story to my harvest....So I had 2 nice toms I knew of on the property I hunt. When I was out last Friday, 4/7, and took a shot on a nice tom with a Bullhead. I ended up shooting low and hit him in the chest. Knocked the crap out of him and took a decent chunk of meat out him about 2x the size of my thumb. But he got up and took off pretty quick with his head still attached. I was in the dumps and just beside myself. Decided I was done with the Bullhead for now because I knew any other broadhead and he'd be in the truck. Shook it off and went out the next morning and luck was on my side as you all saw but was still wondering about the tom that got away.

Luck must still be on my side! I went out to check my camera tonight and saw 2 nice toms about 70 yards from my blind, about the size of the one I already shot. They were running around with about 4 jakes and a few hens. I know one of them is the one from Friday so that's awesome and to find a bonus tom is even better! I had a feeling there may have been 3 toms out there but wasn't sure until tonight. Who knows, one may be a bit bigger than my first entry but not by much.

Any how I got the kill shot on video so I'll be putting that together hopefully sooner than later! Hope everyone is doing well and I'll try to send a little of my luck in everyone's direction!
