3 more yesterday 95 total Man o man would I like to hit 100. Im running out of places to look! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I found several yesterday, we finally got a burn in on 300 acres. I didn't have time to stop and photograph them by the each as I found them so I'll have to gather them up and take a group pic. Also found a deadhead in one of the CRP fields, 8-point. I didn't count them yet, I was picking them up and tossing them in the back of the Ranger as I was driving and setting fire with the drip torch. It was pretty much a run and gun ordeal, lol. I lost track of the count, must be a dozen or so. I forgot to bring them home with me yesterday, I was more than a little pooped by the time we quit.
Team 1 went on a rampage! They are at like 140 right now! granted we dont have Coveys lasted sheds entered in yet do we?
No, mine aren't all on the score sheet. I have to go get them out of the back of the ranger and I didn't make it down to the ranch headquarters today. I'm not sure how many are in there and I'd be wrong if I guessed so better wait until I get them in hand and in a pic before posting a guess. If it rains again this evening, I may take the ranger back over our burn area and the crop field over there that has milo stubble in it and double check. I haven't hunted that milo field yet, it's a ***** to see sheds in but I'd like to get our count up as much as possible.
Correct. I'll get them later today, I have some work in the shop to do. Rained too much to do much else.
Well since I have walked everything I have permission to in Iowa multiple times, I have decided to go back to Indiana and walk the farms I used to hunt there. Last year I found 35 or so there. As far as I know the owner hasn't let anyone else shed hunt it. I'm going to make a weekend out of it...got about 1000 acres to cover. May take a buddy with me.
Good luck Booner. I'm going to make a trip to Iowa here in the coming days to pick up a seed cleaner I bought on Ebay. It'll be my first official trip into Iowa proper. I've been up along the southern and western state lines but never have broken into the state.
Would be cool to get in a shed hunt while I'm there if I had a place to go and had time but it's going to be a rush trip if I'm going to get it done without spending a night somewhere. It's about a 6hr drive for me in each direction.
Finally got a pic of the sheds and dead head I found on the burn the other day and the four that I had not posted pics of a while back. There are 20 sheds in the pic but only 16 of them are new. So add 16 to the count total. That puts me at 38 if my math is correct. About my annual average. I still have a lot of ground I could hunt and some that should be gone over again from the burn the other day but I don't know if I'll get to it or if we'll need any more.
Least you found the small ones.... lol nice looking antlers! Sent from my SM-N920P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yeah, they all show up pretty well after a burn. They are usually laying along a regularly traveled trail anyway and I can see those trails from Google earth across 7' tall native grass so I generally have an idea where to focus. I've yet to find any sheds from the big boys I've had on camera from last year. I don't know where they are dropping theirs at but it's frustrating. I wanted to find the one in my avatar's sheds and there's at least 10 other bucks that I'd like to find sheds from yet. Some probably dropped back in the coal dumps and I ain't walking that sh*t, lol. There's still a couple of fields I intended to burn that I've not gotten to burn yet and probably won't now because they've greened up too much. One of those fields is the farm that my avatar buck roams regularly.
