Follow up to the stag I had come in on Sunday night. My buddy went in yesterday and set up in the same spot. He sealed the deal.

I'm getting out for the first time this weekend. Headed down to deep southern IL near Shawnee national Forest on some private ground. I've never stepped foot on it but my friends family has hunted it for decades. Hopefully I'll be posting trophy pics by Monday lol

So close to getting my target this evening. He looked awful nice at 45 yards. Gonna try him again tomorrow evening. Hopefully he does the same thing.

Whereabouts will you be hunting? I live right across the river and just hunted over there last week.

Near Herod? I've honestly never been there before other than playing baseball in Harrisburg when I was in high school.

Not too far away. My brothers and I have hunted quite a bit around Golconda. Pretty good deer in that area.

Make sure that you have some pics with you, the doe, and your bow for it to count. I didn't see your bow in the pics.

I don’t see your bow in the pics. Is it there and I’m just blind?

The pics you sent me in your PM won't help. We have to have two different pics with you, the bow and the deer all in the pic.

The new ones worked. Your doe is entered.

    Thanks for working with me.

1000004879.jpg Can I get a few points for a turkey? Lol!
First archery bird this afternoon, seeing a lot of deer but nothing big yet. I'll be in the tree again tomorrow

Anybody hunting this week? I hunted Monday on some public in IL after work. Was close to killing a decent 8 point, just didn't work out. I'll be heading back there tomorrow. Ready to fill that tag. We've had a lot of rain this week, so I haven't been able to get out like I want. I'll be hunting closer to home on my best place come this weekend. Weather looks fantastic for the weekend. Starting next week, I'll be hunting every evening (for 2 weeks), and then I'll be off work for the 2nd half of November.

I almost shot a mature 8 Sunday night but he came in about 2 minutes too late. Still had legal shooting time but just couldn’t see my pins on him to make me comfortable enough to shoot. Big bodied dude just not real impressive head gear. I’ll be out tonight, tomorrow and probably Friday morning. I have pto the 10th and 11th so I’ll be able to hunt November 7- 13! Might take off a couple days the next week if I don’t tag out.

I work a 4x10 schedule so I have every Monday off. I'm headed up to the farm this Saturday and hunting thru Tuesday. I then have 6 days off the following week. I'm starting to get some bucks moving but nothing too crazy. This guy just showed up this afternoon. 860322065302454-100-2-10292025162942-HD-SYEW2942.jpg

I'm excited to be at my farm for the next 4 days. Cold front came through last night, but not catching anything mature on my cameras. I hope they are just camera shy! This is one of my favorite stands on my farm that I've been fortunate enough to take 3 nice bucks from. It's a nice pinch point with a great bedding area. Hopefully, everyone has a chance to get out this weekend. Good luck! 20251101_082804.jpg

Yesterday morning was incredible! Saw around 10 bucks and 2 were shooters. The biggest one stayed in the other side of the field at 50 yards. He was following a doe so nothing I did was getting him away from her. He was a beautiful 9 or 10 point pushing 160. So frustrating but just means I get more tree time! I work tonight, tomorrow night, Wednesday and Thursday night and then I have 7 straight days off. I’ll be out Monday evening and Tuesday morning for sure!

So freakin close this morning. Had a big 20” wide 8 pt at 20 yards. Called him right to me. I needed him to take one more step, and of course the wind swirled while he stood there. He didn’t take off, but just turned and then got too far for me to shoot. Dang it.
