This cold front has them moving this morning. Saw 18 does and 2 bucks.

Congrats on some great does, on the 15th our season starts in Alabama so I can join in on the fun ✅

 

Saw around 15 deer tonight. Saw a good up and comer and walking out I think I saw one of the big boys! Taking my daughter out tomorrow for early muzzleloader season. Hopefully the big one does the same thing. He’ll be in trouble!

Got my deer all processed, in the freezer, and everything cleaned up. Gotta go grab my brother’s camper today, finish packing, and then I’m headed to camp and hunt all next week in IL. I’ll be camping and hunting with a friend from work. I think this will make our 5th bow camp now. Should be a fun week. It won’t take much of a buck for me to let loose.

 

I was going to hunt last Thursday Friday but the forecast kept getting warmer and warmer so I canceled. Cellular Trail cameras showed nothing over that time frame so appears I made the right decision.

I now will be hunting 22nd 23rd 24th

I was going to head to the farm tomorrow but high temps and a noon Chiefs game on Sunday made me reconsider. I'm going to head up next weekend. Good luck if you get out! Looks like a front coming through tomorrow night.

Changed my plans again, just added an extra day to my PTO to add Tuesday to it.
Just bought my tag, did Missouri increase non resident tags again? Come on...

 

I made it out for my first sits of the year. I had a doe at 28yrds but she just wouldn't settle long enough for a shot. Last night I had a really nice 10 pointer come in lightly pushing a doe around. Closest he came was 40yrds 8n thick brush. Good luck everyone.

 

Hunted sikas all weekend. Had some good encounters with two studs. First one let me know that the wind hates me. It was blowing out of the south all morning into the afternoon. I get set up 80 yds from where he is bedded with a doe. As soon as I pull up my bow the wind shifted for two minutes out of the east and blew directly to them. The doe stood up and got out of town and the stag followed. As they were leaving the wind shifted back to south and never shifted again. Basically the wind said f$#@ you and your plan.
Last night went to a different section of the property and had a small 5 pt stag walk to 16 yds at 5 pm. Gave him a pass because there was a tank in the area. 6:15 pm big boy showed up and was pushing a hind(doe) all around. I threw everything but the kitchen sink from a calling perspective but couldn't get him to come into shooting distance. 68 yds was as close as he would come.
Lots of fun. Might give them another week then will shift to whitetails exclusively.

Good luck to anybody out this morning. I'll be in the woods after work. I'll be doing my best to hunt the next 3 days after work.

 

Shot a doe this morning. Slightly quartered to me. I got over confident and tried to hug the shoulder and center punched it. Got maybe 4” of penetration. Her and my arrow are gone. I followed minimal blood for over 400 yards or more and she never laid down. No spraying blood or bubbles. Guessing it was all meat blood. Sick about it.

Keep an eye out for buzzards and the trail cameras. Most likely she'll heal and have a limp. It happens to the best of us.

 

Ya she’s got an expensive arrow setup in her. Never found any part of the arrow on the blood trail.
