I hunted this morning for whitetails. Saw three young bucks. They put on a bit of a show for me. Pushing each other around a bit. Locked up a couple times. Rubbed some trees. The big boy that runs with them didn't show up but damn it was good to be in a tree.

It was a foggy cool morning today in KC. I think the 90s are finally past! It's always fun to see the boys getting a little rowdy.

I keep saying I want the weather to change before going and getting in the stand but my patience is waning

1000004738.jpg 1000004739.jpg I bought a long bow on a whim last week. It arrived yesterday so I got it out and played around with it this morning. The last pic was shooting at the dots, not a group . Fun morning of flinging arrows!

I got a couple days lined up with the Mrs to hopefully get out to the cabin to hunt in October.
I'd happily take a doe then then will get more stand time closer to rut.

I’m all set up for my first morning hunt of the season. Nice out this morning. Still a lot of mosquitoes, but at least it isn’t hot.

No luck for me this morning. Never saw a deer until I went to check a couple cameras. Oh well. I’m going to try and get back out for a hunt or two this week if I can. IL opens up this week, so I may head over there after work one day this week.

Government furlough for me. Going to try and get out as much as i can but officially stay at home dad. I hunted this morning and saw 5. Had two small bucks pushing each other around at day break. Pushed in a little closer to a travel corridor. Hoping it pays off tonight.

Sika rut is starting to heat up. I'll be in the marshes this weekend. 1759354879519.jpg

90 degrees here in Missouri! Ugh! My cameras have nothing but does on them. Makes me curious where all the boys are lingering. I'm waiting for that nice cold front to push through but looking at the long range forecast that might be awhile. Good luck on those Sika! I've always wanted to try my luck at that.

Gonna give IL a shot this evening. Not sure where I'm going yet, and don't have any cameras over there. Just going in blind and hunting the sign. The older I get, the more I like the surprise of the deer showing up. It's fun to not have any idea about the caliber of deer around. Just hunt the sign and whatever happens happens.

Big time shift in temperatures. Went from low 80's on Tuesday to mid 60's for the next week. I'll be in the tree tomorrow morning and the next several days.

I went to hunt in IL yesterday evening. I didn't find the sign I was looking for, so I drove around and scouted. Got permission on a couple pieces too. I'm heading over there in 45 minutes when I get off work. Not gonna be picky over there. My freezer is very low.
