October 1st for us in Illinois. This cold front has me dreaming of being out on stand! Going to get a camera out on our food plot today. My son Logman has a couple pics of the plot on team 8's thread. It's looking good, can't wait to sit in the blind on it! Good luck to anyone getting out!

Same deer different shot.
I was at in laws for dinner tonight and looked through the chips.
We only have 25 acres but I saw 4 distinct bucks i wouldn't hesitate to shoot

 

Got a couple of bucks starting to show up on the camera

 

I made my way up to my farm yesterday. It's a 2 hour drive but had to get the batteries changed in my cameras. I'll keep you guys posted of any possible targets showing up! It looks like the corn is being harvested near me. It's so dry that I'm not surprised.

Any of you guys hunting today? I'd like to, but it's going to be hot. I'm trying to wrap up a few items around the house the next couple of days while it's still hot and then maybe get out a couple times later this week. My son acts like he wants to go hunting with me next weekend. We'll see how that goes. Being 4, he changes his mind every 10 minutes.

 

With the 10 day forecast showing lows in the 60s and all the way down to the upper 50s im going to hold off a bit.

If worst case I have to leave a shot deer overnight I really like refrigerator temperatures overnight high 30s low mid 40s

 

Good luck if you guys get out! I start a 7 day stretch at work. I just love working 80 hours a week! Haha my work schedule is insane the next 2 weeks and then again for 2 weeks in October. Great for the bank account however.

Well, the taxidermist sent me the text with a picture that he has my 2024 bowkill finished. This guy was my biggest bowkill to date green scoring 161." Just thought I would share. I'll pick him this weekend.

This guy showed up twice so far. I’m pretty sure it’s the same deer. Screams young to me so he will probably be off the list for me. Can’t say he’ll live if he steps out in front of my daughters tho!

I'm gonna give it a go this afternoon. It's going to be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday's high, so maybe not quite so miserable. Only issue I can see at this point is the wind forecast. Looking swirly and fairly light. Not a fan of that at all. I checked cams a couple of days ago, and had at least 3 different bucks I would shoot, but one with some extra junk is getting my attention this evening. Hopefully it won't be a complete bust.
