    Checking in.

First time in several years that I’ve done the contest. The only expectations that I have for the season is to have fun. I’ve got one out of state trip planned in mid October, and a couple weeks off planned for November. I should have plenty of time to hunt. I’ve got a couple different bucks picked out that I’d like a chance at, but I’m not gonna be just super picky.

I’ll be hunting with my black widow recurve and wood arrows as usual. I’ve got another bow that I will try to take on some hunts this year too. It was sent to me by a good friend. He’s no longer able to use it, so he wanted me to have it. I’d really like to take a deer with it.

I will mainly be hunting a private farm close to my house, but will probably spend some time at my farm too. I just got started on doing a little clearing to build a small cabin for my wife, son, and myself. It will make it easier to hunt my farm if I have a place to stay there.

What's up Team 2!? I'm Mark and I'm from KCMo. I have a 100-acre farm on the IA/MO border that I hunt. I had a pretty good year last year and shot my biggest buck to date. Green Scored 161". I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody! 20241107_132245.jpg

Hey guys, from Omaha NE but hunt NW Missouri, apologies in advance because I don't think I'll get of a ton of stand time this fall. Life is pretty busy with 4 littles.

My freezer is empty so goal is 2 deer.
Attached is my last decent buck, we only have about 25 acres so I don't have a great inventory of shooters

Checking in! I’m Daniel. I live and hunt in southeast Iowa. Lost a ton of property this year but still have 2 farms to hunt. The main one is 188 acres along a river. There’s always a few good deer running around. Going to get cameras out soon and hoping to catch up with a buck we found matched sets to. Excited to see what he turned into this year!

His left side scored right at 70” last year. My friend is holding him and his “large” frame doesn’t do the antlers any justice hahaha.

Hey fellas, HuntinKB51 checking in. I'm Bruce, 73 year young retired railroad signal inspector. I'm from Northern Illinois, almost Wisconsin. I hunt a 250 acre private farm about 2 min from home. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and hear your stories!

With 4 kids and all the schedules its hard to take multiple days off so what I've been doing the last couple years is once the kids to go bed on Thursdays, pack up and drive the 107 miles to our cabin to hunt Friday and Saturday. This actually stretches my PTO and keeps around to help at the house during most of the week.

I hunt about 25 acres of private timber that is part of a large track of all privately owned timber with ag on both the east and west sides.

I will hunt with both my compound and crossbow. There are a couple stand locations where the bow is just tricky due to being a little more exposed, also in late season when its super cold im not too pround to hike the crossbow out.

Hey guys! Checking in. My name is Keith and I'm in Maryland. I hunt whitetail on a few small tracts. Lots of does and only one shooter on camera.

I also hunt sika deer. After the meateater's TV show its popularity has blown up. In case any of you are interested here's a little bio on this species.
    https://dnr.maryland.gov/wildlife/pages/hunt_trap/sikadeer_about.aspx

They are cousins to elk and have some very similar vocalizations. Really cool species.

I also have 4 kids so my time in the woods will be sporadic at times but I'll be out as much as I can.

I planted a small kill plot in a neighboring field to one of my permission pieces and we got some decent rain right after. Haven't had time to check but I'm hoping it's taking hold and I'll have a food source in November that will draw some extra opportunities.

I've been doing this contest for quite some time and it's always a great way to keep the season interesting. So good luck, be safe, and shoot straight.

I’ve wanted to do a Maryland sika hunt since I first heard about it! Looks fun!

Fun fact: I was born in Chestertown MD Kent county! My dad grew up there!

I don’t necessarily want to be captain, but I will if nobody else wants to.

It’s not complicated and not a lot of work. Just checking on if entries have the right amount of pictures and scores. Also being a middle man to littlechief and the team!

Fun fact # 2 - lots of recordbook deer come out of Kent County. It's like Maryland's version of Pike County in Illinois.

Just a thought for a name and logo. Let me know what you think. Be happy to change it to something else if somebody has another idea.
