Tribal that's too bad about the buck. Good luck getting him.

Western congrats on a nice doe.

Jrvs congrats on the new opportunity. I've never hunted anywhere near bait but what tim said sounds like some good advice. Good luck out there.

Didn't see a thing this morning but here's the pic of the buck yesterday as he was walking right towards me and me not ready. This was taken 15 yards from my tree with me in it at the time he is walking directly at me. :(

I guess they had some deer unaccounted for. Also I think they were fairly successful just recently. I'm trying to convince my bro that we need to take a doe off of our hunting land and for him to take the meat. If so I will be doe hunting soon.

I am still looking for a buck and if I would of shot better on the 10 pointer we would of been even closer. I am hoping to get another shot. I will be out the next three mornings then it will be off to shotgun hunt then back to bow for another 9 more days! I hope to get one soon! I have two slickheads so to bad we can not count both of them.

I think we need a rule change where if I shoot a nice buck that he can count as a 50point doe. haha.

It seems like a few of you guys are right on some bucks, you just need a little luck. It will come soon enough though.

It's going to be some tough hunting this weekend. Each day has a little snow with highs of -12 and lows of -17C. I think that's like 7 F to 0F. I bought some hand and feet warmers. I hope they work. My toes were just freezing yesterday when I tried to hunt.

Well guys, after talking w/ my buddy who has the cabin. I'm planning on going up there the 4th-6th of Dec and maybe again after x-mas. It sounds pretty sweet. No running water and a outside bathroom. The wife decided she and the kid won't be coming along after hearing that. LOL. Anyway, I didn't know this but all bait has to be removed 10 days before it is legal to hunt in that area of the state. I now have some more good hunting days left to look forward to after gun season starts tomorrow.:tu:

Congrats jrvs. Good luck out there. I'm still waiting on warmer weather before I go hunting. We have highs ranging from -20 to -15 C. Too cold for me. Our lows are close to -30.

Well, I wish I could count this fella for our count! Check the story out and the pics. I could not even believe it as this buck came in my life and the stories kept coming on. You have to read it to see what I am talking about. Here is the thread I made up with pics.

Jay quit sending your cold and snow down here dammit !!! I am not ready for winter yet !! LOL I need to kill another doe with bow. I am not looking forward to freezing to death to accomplish it... but it needs to be done.

Have you made it out lately ?? I keep hoping you nail that stud you got on trail camera. The deer are really starting to move now with the snow. Should be good hunting now that the rifles have been put away.

I've been out 3 times and couldn't last over 3 hours. It's so damn cold up here, but this weekend it will be great hunting weather. I'm not great at the conversion, but I think our weather has been around -8 to 0 deg F for the last week. Which sucks cause it's too cold for us to work and too cold for me to hunt. I still haven't seen the big guy, but did set up my camera on a fresh scrape and had this guy come by me. I won't be shooting him but he's got potential for next year.

Still trying to get pics of the 5 point I passed on or the big guy. I have a camera on a big rub line right now but I don't have a memory card in it. I brought two out with me on sunday when I tried hunting but they fell out of my pocked when I pulled out my new bow hanger and I lost them somewhere. I've had terrible luck trying to get pics lately.

I went out this morning and saw two deer. I then wanted to check my trail cam to make sure it was all good still. I stepped in the woods to find a doe that was still alive but spine shot. No one is allowed to shotgun out there and I know who is doing it. I advised him when I left for my shotgun weekend that the owner said no guns. He still went in there and even took his wife this time. How do I know this? I have pics of them walking on road with guns rested on shoulders. So they shot this doe and did not look very well for her. She was not even 4 yards in timber. That really pissed me off that she had to lay there for 4 days before anyone did anything. I shot her and checked to see if she was still good but she was all pussy around her wound on the spine. All I did was a mercy killing. Since her infection I passed on bringing her home. So I called the other guy and he said that his wife missed a doe! I told him that she did not because I just found her 4 yards into timber still alive but paralized. I advised him she was all pussy and was not good to eat with the infection. So with that said I will say this.....If you want to hunt please give the animal you hunt 110% for recovery. That is the only right to the animal and as a hunter to do that. If you can not do that then dont hunt!

    Dawg awesome buck bud!

My rifle season starts on Saturday, so after that chances of getting any nice bucks in my area with a bow are slim to none. I will update you guys later!!

Good luck hunting. With it being so open here... the roadhunters pretty much shut down all deer movement for the first week of our General Season. Course that is the week I took off work to hunt. The second week was a little better but rut really kicked in. Now that that season is over as of last Sunday... the deer are moving big time now. Was really hoping to put down another big buck with bow as I had a tag for that season.

Could have shot a couple decent buck with rifle that were out of bow range but just wasn't in the mood to kill them with rifle. Oh well back to doe hunting with bow.

On a good note. As of the last morning of that season... the other big buck that was in the same areas as the buck I shot with bow... was still alive. Hopefully no one got a shot at him that afternoon when it ended. He will only have to make it through muzzle loader season and not very many draw tags for that season. Of course he also has to make it with all the poachers here and there are a few.

I hope he makes it !!!!!! He is a stud now. I figured he would go in the high 150s for a 4.5 year old buck. I found one of his sheds last winter when he was 3.5 years old. In fact... the last day of the 2009 bow season I passed on him. I've got quite a bit of history with him. He will be a freaking monster next year. If he makes it... he could very well score better then the buck I shot this year and he is very clean 5x5. I was out this morning perched on the highest hill in that area hoping to get a glimpse of him. Saw a couple of really good bucks but not him. I will probably keep scouting him for the rest of the year to see if he made it. If he is alive... I want to find his sheds this winter/next spring and see what he really scored. I bet I am not fair off on my guesstimate.

here are some real crappy picures of him I pulled off my cheapy camcorder last summer. The video turned out ok but I couldn't pull decent pictures from it. You will get an idea though of how good he is.
