That's awesome. Congrats on getting her involved

I made it out yesterday to chase some mulies around. I saw a herd of 7 mule deer with 2 shooter bucks in the group coming out of the field and into a revine. I booked it down to the bottom and hit on a hillside to where I thought they would come down to. They broke through the trees about 100 yards above me and were coming right at me. The two big bucks were in front followed by 4 does and a spiker. I lost them on the other side of the hill about 60 yards away and got ready to shoot as they came by about 20yards below. For some reason, when they were behind that hill the bucks split off and went one way, and I had 4 does and a spiker walk by me at close to 15yards. Since I only have one either sex mule deer tag, I didn't want to use it on a doe while I still had some hunting time left.

I also set up a buddy of mine on a good stalk for a nice smaller 4 point mule deer. He got to within 20 yards of him, as he was bedded over a hill side in some brush. He couldn't see the buck until the buck ran off. It was a close one, but still no shot. Yesterday we saw a total of close to 30 deer running around down there so it was a exciting hunt, just didn't get chances at the deer we were after.

Sounds like some great hunting Jay !! Mulies would be fun to hunt by stalking. We have them in my state but on the other side. Just too far for me to go. I have a buddy who does it every year and has a blast chasing them.

I MIGHT get to the farm for a couple days this weekend. Might. I did sit Saturday evening but was over run by trespassers. Which always irritates me but as little time as I have this year, well........ FML.

I just made plans to take my trailer out to my mule deer land and camp out there for the weekend. We usually just drive up for the morning hunt but it's getting tough to be up early enough to drive 2 hours in the morning and have time for a half hour walkin. We think we know where the big guys are going so
hopefuly I can get on the board. I just got my new bow all set up and shooting broadheads accurately out to 40 so things are looking good. I'm getting super excited for the weekend

Went out this morning and saw 8 deer! Closest ones to get to me where a doe with two yearlings at 80 yards! That would of been some NASTY Kentucky Windage to shoot that far with 20 mph winds!

Thanks TJF. This was my goal for the year and it feels so good to accomplish it. It is some really nice country to hunt, just not fun to pack a deer out of. Haha
