The only pictures of your deer I truly care about are the two different ones you post of the monster you lay down this year lol I do still like to look at trail pics but if it bothers you I don't blame you for taking them down. I get protective of my monsters myself.

I wont put them on my facebook - but don't mind putting them here. But, I don't blame you if you have locals on here, too. I really don't have any friends that archery hunt that'd be on here. I worry more on my personal facebook because of the lovely poachers and gun hunters.

But, if you have snapchat - feel free to snap me pictures of them!

Nick, too bad you aren't up here - I'd share some. We had, I think 5 deer and one bear, just trying to clean it out and get some fresh meat.

I'll probably just put them on here and then pull certain ones down after a few days once I know you guys have seen them. I'm not too worried about the assorted 130's and 140's. It is the bigger deer that can catch the eyes of the internet hunters that might lead them to start digging. I don't get that many pictures of such deer but it does happen.

I don't use FB or Snapchat so I'd have to enlist my wife's help to do something fancy like that. :throw:

IMG_7227.JPG Got my deer back yesterday. I still have to wrap the base in barn wood and sprinkle in some landscape but at least I have it home now where I can take my time and get it like I want it.

How were you able to keep it together to shoot that deer? You got to tell the story...

Man look at this team! Between huge mounts and pictures of booners I feel like this picture is of a fork horn!

A good picture does not a deer kill lol There are about 3 of us that have a shot at this deer I feel like he is going to die this year with how daylight active he has been. Once rut picks up who knows how many will be in his range. I got my fingers crossed.

Pictures are one thing, setting up on and harvesting them is another. Every year we see tons of giant buck cam pics posted on this forum, but very, very few photos of those giants with a bowhunter behind them.

That's a solid buck in your photo, I hope to see you behind it this fall.

Backstory to the deer is more interesting than the actual hunt. We had quite a few pictures of the deer in 2015 on the farm that we had just acquired in November. He had a broken brow tine and just a couple of short character points you could barely notice. He was probably around 140". We agreed to pass on the deer. During late season my son was hunting the farm and we had him after a short tined 10 we wanted to remove. He's a young bow hunter and hadnt taken a buck with a bow in 8 years. His only bow buck was a 90" 8 pt he got when he was 14. So of course who shows up on a January afternoon but this 140" deer. He proceeds to stand in front of the blind for 30 minutes at 18 yards. To his credit he gritted his teeth and passed the deer. He ended up shooting the cull 10 point the next afternoon. He was and still is pretty proud of himself for passing that deer and has bragged on it just like you would if you shot a nice one.

So fast forward to last year and the deer shows up on camera during Summer and he had popped a good bit. He was hanging out with a giant 8 that appeared to be older and more dominant of the two. Right before season he disappeared for a while. With all of the acorns last year we had placed a stand on a old logging road about 750 yards from where we'd had the Summer picks. Down one side an sapling and briar thicket. Down the other side a hillside of mostly oaks and open hardwoods. The deer were using the end of this knoll to get from the thick to the oaks and crossing right through the end of this old grassy logging road. On Sept 25th we ran a camera we had there and my buck had been through there 3 times in a couple days. The next afternoon was going to be the first cool afternoon of our season. I left work early and got in the stand 2 hours before dark. I never saw a deer til almost dark. About the time you start thinking it's not going to happen today I turned and looked at the end of the logging road and there he stood head down feeding at 25 yards. I took my bow off the hanger and drew back. He raised his head as I was drawing which made me a little nervous as I was trying to settle in but then I could tell he was still completely relaxed. I 10 ringed him and he wheeled and went off the end of the knoll and into the brushy tangle. He piled up in about 60 yards.

Above picture of him the year before. I still owe my son a deer that much is for sure.

What a great story. Love it when there is history involved. Went to K-Mart tonight in a neighboring town. It is closing in October. I found a HSS Elite Safety Harness for $37. I looked on Cabelas and they retail over $100. That's a hard to beat deal right there! There was also a Muddy tree stand for $75. I should have pulled the trigger on it but I didn't.
