Yeah and they only gave out about 48,000 gun tags this year also. Deer herd took a big hit about 5 years back we had 3 bad winters in a row and the gun tags were at about double what they are now but the DNR cut them in half 4 years ago and we are starting to finally see a come back in numbers. And I am 1 for 2 in the contributing of points but the year I did it was 156.

Hi Nick, you too have some nice deer!

I get excited over our deer - but sadly they never make it too large. (120 is usually a big one here) The areas we just got permission to hunt usually produce some nice ones - just haven't caught any on the camera.

Tanner, that's a bummer about deer herd. Thankfully your DNR is working to improve numbers. Seems they just pass more and more tags in my area. People even had a chance to send in for second doe tags - I just didn't see the need.

Joel, I'm okay with being captain - but if you or any other new members want to, that is fine by me. As a team we all work together and help each other with scoring, etc. So it's not sole responsibility for one person.

If we get a few good bucks and everyone shoots a doe we will be right in it. I shot a 115" buck last year and that's it so it don't matter. It's all for fun anyway no pressure.

I second Kristen for Captain. That way we could just name our team The Prancing Pink Ponies.

On second thought that might be too harsh. We want to intimidate our rivals... not traumatize them. :moose:

What are you guessing that deer at Tanner? He's an absolute stud. I'm guessing he will be around 165" out of velvet.

I know it is not Pink but that one was easy. That is the name of the Inn in Lord of the Rings. I am scared to start looking for pictures of "Pink Prancing Ponies" though. I might end up on some sort of list

Hahah, funny name. But yeah, I would say not to Google anything else - last year we were joking about names for a team and I was told not to google it, lol.

If we go with that name I will be compelled to get to work trying to actually get a picture of a Booner. Lol

I'm thinking he will be pushing 180". I found his match set from last year and the horns without spread scored 146" with 11" & 12" G2's & G3's -and he's put on a few inches. He's deceptively big since he's not very wide.

I hope you are right but in the end who cares once they get that big? He is an absolute hammer.

I'm Scott, been on this forum since day one (literally). I've also been in this contest every year (since 2008). I live and hunt in Ohio, almost exclusively public land. Truth be told I don't really mess with does, although I have entered a buck every year except for one. They are pictured in order from 2008-2014 and then 2016.
