Pick - Sorry about your miss. But, a clean miss is the best kind. Maybe he'll swing through later on a doe. Nick - I can usually manage a cold face - it's my fingers and toes I cannot stand. Once one or the other is cold - I'm out. Good luck to you both on your sits. I'm thinking about going behind my house this week. Spotted over the weekend and had a small buck on the gas line and have been having yearling in the side yard every evening. Maybe something is out back. Going to try and borrow my brothers climber and climb up a tree on the power line.
Did not see another deer after that miss. Still bummed because of how I goofed the shot. Just rushed it. Needed to plan three steps ahead and I did not. I know better than that, which is what gets me. Really was a bit of buck fever. I'll get'em tomorrow!
Gotta set some spots up for some buddies in the morning and then starting tomorrow afternoon I'm gonna try to be on stand as much as possible for the next 8 days.
I threw pumpkins out in the pasture last evening for the horses and broke one open to see if the ducks would eat it. This morning I have two deer standing in the pasture eating them....GONE. I cannot even see a deer in stand and they're right in front of my face at home.
Yesterday. Three buck, one doe. No shots. Only one was big enough. Today: one doe. 7 buck. 5 big enough to shoot. 0 shots. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Two doe out of range so far this morning for me, they have to be moving. The corn is killing me Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I saw nothing this morning till I was heading back to the truck. Saw a decent 3 yr old out in the CRP walking around. I'm back in stand now where we had pics of a shooter yesterday afternoon at last light. My wind is sketchy but this time of year they could come from anywhere. We will see. So far I am not impressed with the rut activity in SC Ky. I may file a formal complaint if things don't pick up in the next few days.
One of my buddies in from PA hunting passed on this buck this morning. I think it would have been his best with a bow. I am impressed. Probably a 3 yr old but I wouldn't have cared if he shot it. Kristen - Sure wish that could have been you in that tree this morning.
Up to 10 buck today. Personal best. 0 shots. Last Three buck were very small. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That's a nice buck, this close to end of season don't know how he passed! Going to try a morning sit Saturday. Supposed to snow Friday and heard the rut is heating up...fingers and toes crossed.
Trying to get it done today. Tomorrow looks a hair cold and windy. 20s and 20mph winds. Ouch! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
^^^^^^^^^ THAT is what keeps me away from ANY outdoor activity lol. ETA; I just had to look it up. That's what our forecast pretty much says for tomorrow. Saturday 6AM = 22*.....I have no idea how I am going to handle that!!
On the way to work this morning the work pick-up said -6, luckily the lows for the weekend are supposed to be only around the teens so it shouldn't be too cold sitting in the stand.
I saw 6 bucks and 7 does this morning running around like lunatics. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ok. Today produced one legal buck which did not come inside of 60. Would not have shot it anyway. One deer butt and one doe. Tomorrow we ride again! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Late start this morning but I am in for an all day sit Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
