It is a big east to west travel route. Hoping it doesn’t let me down with the east wind

Seen a log of deer driving around this evening. Going duck hunting tomorrow.

IMG_7613.JPG Finally got good pics of this deer. On the down side I kicked him out of his bed on the way to the camera. He was of course laying somewhere I wouldn't have imagined him being. Hopefully I didn't make him even more impossible to get on that he already was. I don't see anyway to kill him before he starts rutting anyway.

I think I might actually get in a tree this week but I won't go after this deer. I'm gonna give him a week or two to forget me.

Skunked Saturday, going out tomorrow afternoon :) It's about time for someone on our team to put one down. We are due!

We are definitely due! I wont be hunting today, it's raining. Rest of the week is up in the air. Kind of in a tough spot as all the areas we've been scouting we are no longer allowed at. Going out on a limb and hoping for the best. I do have one old stand still hung (one I sat in opening morning) - that should be a very good spot once rut hits - but other than that, nothing.

Team - I hit the woods on Saturday and high hopes. Hunted a spot on large state game land which I discovered late season last year. It has a ton of quality signs, however, saw nothing on the stand. Kicked one doe in the twilight walking out. Hunted two short mornings last week looking for a doe...saw zero. Had one deer snort at me while getting into the stand on Friday morning.

The pines were planted specifically for lumber but by the time the big trees were mature enough pine wasn’t worth enough to have it logged. The smaller trees provide decent cover for travel routes. Wind was perfect but deer weren’t moving where and when I needed them to.

If I had the option, I would always choose a stand. The ground has only been productive for me once and that was during rifle season.

Am hitting the woods tonight. Wind is good for a sit in one of the trees I picked for my urban hunting.

Good luck. Have some fun and enjoy yourself anyway. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

It has turned off cooler here today as well. I wish I could go this afternoon but there is just no way for me to pull off an afternoon hunt during the week without leaving work really early or taking a half day off. If one of my target bucks show up on cell cam this afternoon I may try to come in early tomorrow so I can leave early enough to get in the tree. We shall see. It is getting very frustrating to not have hunted yet when we are 6 weeks into the season. To make matters worse I will be out of town the next 2 weekends as well. Ugh!

I need to start playing the lottery or something cause this work crap is cramping my style.

It's looking like Sunday afternoon is going to be a great hunt. I'll be out looking to fill the freezer.
