Name is Steve and I hunt in quite a few different farms in KY. We have some leases and some permission places scattered across 6 or 7 different counties. I have 3 Iowa preference points that I might consider putting into use next year but at this point I'm confined to KY unless I shoot one early and decide to try a nearby state like IN or TN but that will be irrelevant for the contest. I have been strictly bowhunting for about 28 years now. I don't really hunt anything else other than whitetails. My wife says that I live it. Got about 25 shooters at the moment so having nice deer to hunt won't be as much of an issue as actually getting the time and the weather to get out there and get after them. Since I am new to the forum and obviously to the contest I nominate anyone but me to be the Captain. Looks like I need to get a photo/avatar in place too. I keep forgetting to do that. Anyway - I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys/gals and having some fun with this.
I really don't have any picked out as I have no consistent pictures (besides doe). But I'm really feeling this is my year for a buck. These 3 are in the same location I hunted last year...and to think I am considering changing properties...time will tell.
Nice ones. Need to talk your hubby into letting you go after whatever big one he's chasing. Whoever heard of a man putting his hunting before the needs of his wife? (my wife's eyes would be rolling let me tell you). Sounds like you are due so we will be rooting you on for sure. Get out there and find some more good ones to hunt.
Pulled public land cameras today prior to opening of squirrel season. Looks promising. (pay no attention to dates...apparently I can't remember to set them)
Half the time I don't set dates, either. This fella right now is my hit lister. I love the split brow tine.
These are in my field behind my house. The deer in the back left is a nice deer although I'll probably let one of my friends try to get him if he is around when season comes in. Daylight pic shows him pretty well but is a couple weeks old.
Ok. I hunt in Trigg and Livingston some but most of my hunting is further to the East of that and over into the central part of the state.
Those are some amazing deer! I think we got a good team here! I went and pulled two cameras on this new property today. Cows knocked one over and the other cam is really old and doesn't take good pictures. Photobucket is taking forever to load so I will upload the photos of my hit list tomorrow. FYI, I don't care who the captain is, first person who volunteers I'm fine with. I trust any one of us would do a good job.
Name is Tanner. I hunt on our farm in north central ND but also get out to the badlands to do some spot and stalk for muleys on some long weekends. So far my hitlist consists of one deer and with only allowed one archery tag i am only good for one mature buck or a doe.
Tanner, that's a great deer to be after! I will say, I am surprised to see that ND only allows one tag in archery season. I think we are going to have a pretty stout team. Guess now isn't the time to admit I've only ever contributed points once,
Yea but you are due Kristen and sometimes it's better to be due than to be on a roll. Just keep your fangs and talons sharp and be ready and you will get it done when the time comes.
Thanks Steve, I really am hoping so! We've set our racing aside and done more scouting and preparing this summer so I am having a good feeling about this season.
Hey all (hi brad!!!!),my name is Nick and I hunt west north west Illinois. We have a few pretty nice ones running around and I'm hoping to contribute a doe and a buck. Looks like we have a active team at least and that's all I hoped for lol I'm looking forward to sharing my season with you folks and looking forward to hearing your stories too. I actually just bout a little 9 acre plot that's buts right up to the property I have hunted the last 10 years so that's pretty exciting. Here is some this years picks from the area. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yeah, it certainly looks like we have a great bucks to hunt. Hopefully my cams will show the same. Kristen, with your experience as a captain and if you don't mind, I will give you my nod for team captain.
