Good luck Joe! Anyone else having issues with the forums? I keep getting errors and then can't get on.
Thought I was going to get skunked. Nice buck came in right at dusk. Came within 30 yards but it was too dark and I wasn't sure what buck it was. Pulled the card and I'm pretty sure he was a nice 7 pointer. I'll post a pic of him tomorrow.
I was earlier but it seems to have been corrected now. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Was on vacation last week in OBX. Can't wait for the season to start here. Won't be long. Great to hear of others getting out. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Hope you encounter him again, Joe. Fair week is here...I wont have much internet service after today. Ill pop in when I can.
Finally got out on sunday but didnt see anything. It was very windy and I think it had the deer laying down a little tighter. On the plus side checked my camera on my food plot and have a decent 5x5 that has started coming in.
Survived the hurricane, this weekends trip to Ga is currently up in the air because their is so much work to be done from the storm. Just glad house and everything is fine! Just a lot of trees down and power is out until they get that all fixed up.
Glad you are ok. On the hurricane note I saw this on Facebook and thought that it's a good reason to live through ND winters I guess. We might get -60 with windchill in a he winter but we don't get tropical storms. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm pretty sure that this is the deer that came in last night. Came in close but it was just too dark for me to shoot. Pretty big buck for a seven pointer. Don't normally see too many nice 7's.
Looking like it is going to be a little warm on opening day for WI... Had to replace the peep tubing today. I don't like messing with things this close to season but it had to be done. Guess I will just have to shoot a few extra arrows tonight.
You guys that have done this before know how much they worry about the accuracy of the scoring? I mean I understand it is the honor system to some extent and there are pictures and measurements shown but if someone has obviously incorrectly scored their deer are the admins gonna challenge them or nah? It's not a big deal since it's just for fun anyway but just curious.
That's a fair question. It's only my second year and I don't remember anything like that last year so I have no clue. Pry best just to shoot fitz a private message and ask him directly. I doubt you would be the first. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
From what I have seen, if the numbers match the rack...you are good to go. If something in the two pics you post looks totally out of whack, maybe there would be something said. My guess is that most scoring is approximate and close to actual unless someone totally miss a tine or measurement. If you are concerned at all about scoring your own buck, we can walk you through it. It is really easy with a string, tape, and measure. Just remember...you need two pics of the deer and weapon from two different angles....or it will not count!
Yea I'm not worried about scoring my own deer and I'm not worried about inaccurate scoring enough to raise an issue out of it. I was just wondering cause I already see one that I expect is off by 10" and I just wondered if the Admins sorta watch and say something to the hunters to preempt others challenging the person directly or if they just let it go and see what happens. I'm sure most people like me are not worried about it enough to raise an issue because it's for fun and even if there is a discrepancy it could very well just be a mistake or a person not understanding how to measure or something like that. On the flip side... some guys are so competitive you worry that they will extrapolate the problem by intentionally inflating their own score because they think someone else got away with something. I just wondered what the history was on this since the contest has been going on for a while I figured it has to have come up before.
My number one is off the hitlist But I wasn't the one who killed him Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That blows chunks. Sorry man. I'm sure that stings if it wasn't a good friend or family member that got him. Let us know the score if you can find out. I'm curious how close I was.
