That's pretty funny Will. I'll have to check out the youtube video at home in the morning.
Don't worry about Team 19, my friend. I know my teammates are busy scoutin, and hangin stands. Right guys?

Okay fellas, Huckleberry is startin to poke a little fun at us. We need to get our act together a little bit.

We need to have safe and fun season, and have a blast with this contest.

    Let's get this thing goin!

Well, I'm headed out to my lease for the weekend. I can't wait to see what's on my trailcam. My buddy and I are planning on hangin a couple stands along some trails and possibly hunting a bit for an Axis or Aoudad that's running around. I'll be back Sunday eve and will check back here on Monday. Hope y'all have a great weekend.

    Good Luck,
    Waid

That's funny Will. I was just about to log in and tell the team I was back.

Well, I didn't get to do any hunting for Axis or sheep. We did a lot of scouting and managed to get 2 stands hung in 2 different areas along the same dry creek bed. Both areas are torn up with trails and other sign. We saw a ton of old rubs and some fresh rubs. I'm thinking it's kinda early for whitetails to be rubbing so it could be from Axis bucks. I moved my camera to one of the areas to try a catch a peek at what's moving through there. It may be a month or more before I can get back to check it though.

Don't worry Will, team 19 is still on recon. I hope.....

    Been busy

Last weekend we went to the farm in calhoun couty to get some velvet footage and while driving around we must have seen 140-150 deer mostly does and small bucks we pulled the truck off of the road so I could glass one of the drainage ditches through the property as we pulled out on the road the field across from the ditch was loaded with deer must of been 30-35 deer in the field and 3 were giants one 180"+14 point and 2 10 points that had to go in the 150-160 range as we headed down the road about 1/4 mile there was a hogg of a 8 point standing in the road probably close to 150'' got some good footage of the 3 bucks in the field but had the camera put up before we saw the Big 8

    COME ON OCT 1

That's good stuff to hear! We just might have a sleeper team that no one is paying attention to. :D (except huckleberry) I'm hoping I'll get the monkey off my back and get "it" done this season. Oct. 3rd is our opener, but I'm going on an elk hunt in CO to warm up for whitetails. :D When I get back I'll be ready and probably 15 lbs lighter.

BTW, we need a name fellas...

    Hey Waid,

I had an after thought. If you care, I could change your avatar design to depict a group of lame ducks walking south for the winter. Please advise....

What must a man do to get a team fired up to participate? More badgering?

Chris it sounds like you may have some good opportunties this season. As for my areas at my lease, I'll have to wait til next month to see whats on my camera. I feel pretty good about the setups. There are many years worth of rubs and literally thousands of tracks and several trails. I can't wait to get in the stand but it won't be until after my elk hunt. Also, I'll be hunting an area in the Angelina Ntional Forest that's not too far from my house. I know there's good potential there I just have to get the job done.
Oct. 3rd is our opener but I have to work that weekend so I'll have to grit my teeth and suffer through the pain. The CO trip will help out quite a bit I'm sure.

    Good Luck fellas!

I get to take a kid out for the youth season sept 19th with the knowledge that he will be SEVERELY restricted in what he gets to shoot lol. there are a ton of little bucks running around and since we are losing the ground next year I dont care if they get shot anymore. Im hoping to see Norm and/or Hercules while out hunting as I havent been able to scout much this summer. There are a few nice bucks running around as well and my gf has one of them called out so he is off limits as well.

Got my first chance to go out Urban Hunting this morning and scored a nice year and half doe :ro :sg . I'll write the story later and, hopefully I can figure out how to get this picture text of my deer, that my buddy took, off my phone. Got her butchered and iced for now...

My hunt started 3a.m. this morning. Couldn't sleep knowing that I had placed my stand on a trail where we think that no less than 50 does travel each day. Dreams of double lunging a long neck invaded my REM sleep like America on D-DAY! With all my gear pre-packed, I slipped into my car at 4:15 a. m. for the short trip to my buddy's farm. But, I decided not to go straight to the farm, I wanted to look for Mr. Nocturnal on some other properties before I went to the stand. Well, I ended up driving around for almost 2 hours and, even stopped at SHEETZ for some java and a donut. Didn't see any bucks but, I had a lot of fun looking at all the does and fawns scurry about.
I got to the farm right around 6:05 and I could see daybreak on the horizon. It promised to be a great morning of bowhunting by the looks of it. I take my time collecting my bow, my fanny pack and, all my other little "must have's and must do's". Day is breaking by this time and I head toward my stand when all of a sudden I see her. She's had her eye on me all the while I was there. She is confident that she is well hidden from me and I don't let on that I see her. She's standing between a small evergreen and a sapling oak tree, perfectly broadside, her eyes trained on me like a hawk, her body - absolutely motionless. I turn away from her as though I don't see her and I begin to unload my equipment to free my hands. I nock an arrow and I turn and draw in 1 fluid motion. She's 13 yds away at best. I put my 20 yard pin on her sweet spot and released one of two of my "LUCKY" arrows. SMMAAACCCKKKK!!!!!!!! Screamed my Thunderhead as it ripped into he shoulder and pierced her her left lung. Stunned, she bounded away with my lucky arrow in her.
My lighted nock dancing up and down like a firefly. I waited a full hour before I began the search. Shortly after that, I recovered her. Yea, she broke one of my lucky arrows but, she paid the ultimate price for it. It should be noted that I only got about 5 inches of penetration in her.
Don't know if this photo can be used for the contest but, here it is. The pic was taken with a phone camera but, you can still see the broken arrow. Yes, I'm very happy.
