The point is T, the only constant is bucks. Not everyone can shoot does....by law.

The only way a contest could be fair to EVERYONE is if it was bucks only.

Its all for fun anyways and its going to be fun smoking everyone this year. :)

I do think those that cannot shoot a doe, or even those that can should be allowed their second buck for the 50 ...

And you may smoke all the rest, Danno, but.......Can you smell what Team 6 is cookin!? :D

I know that does will never be taken out of the contest, so I believe to alienate a few less people that second bucks should count for those guys who live in states that don't allow doe tags. I believe you're captain of your team and you can vote that way if you wish, if there's a vote on it.

Oh yeah, we can smell your rotten chicken egg chili farts all over the country. "Silent But Deadly" Grrrrrrreat idea for a name.:evilgrin:

I agree with you guys. If you cannot legally take a doe then you should be able to take a second buck for a 50. I've only hunted 3 years here in NC since moving here and have only seen one 8 pt or better buck. Sadly it was driving and he was chasing a doe between a couple houses. lol. For me I'm pretty glad we get does but I can certainly understand the both sides of it.

There's an old saying that goes something like this.....

"When a man quits dreaming, a man dies."

Looks like you'll live forever there PT.

I think the optional 50 point slot should be open to buck or doe, but will never exceed 50 points regardless. Only issue standing; How do you prevent a guy from shooting two bucks and posting the biggest after the fact.

I like the 50 point optional for a second buck. I am not sure you can ever prevent someone from shooting two bucks and then posting the bigger afterwards. Something to think about......make it a rule for people to enter their kills within 1 week of the killing.

I could see that, or perhaps a special rule for "second buck contestants". Thinking along the lines of the ol' newspaper in the picture trick?

In the end, honor and honesty will be all we have.

Wow you guys have been busy, I just hope the powers to be could take a fair look at, some states won't even allow guys to shoot does or make us pick a buck or doe tag..option in some units... anyway, thanks no matter what shakes out... As for my velvet buck, he's at the taxi, I scored him twice today... 157 3/8, he shaped up real nice... I am stoked! I will get the scorecard updated and get him entered ... headed for WA state in the a.m opening day over there tomorrow! .... 3 comes early.. got a date with another big velvet buck.. I got up at 2 30 this morning and drove over there and watched him leave a bean field into the big timber... same place hes been doing it all month.... I have a ground blind set up ...natural one.. right where he enters... hope hes there in the a.m.... watched a couple other good ones too...

Getting ready to head out. Two miles of trail ahead of me until I reach my deer stand. Hoping to have service to check in regularly. Out!

No luck guys. Someone had been in my stand. Stole my top 3 steps. Dry as saltine crackers out here, we need some rain ASAP or the whole country will end up burned. Did manage to put the sneak on a nice velvet buck, maybe 110" or so. He almost got it but I decided to pass.
