Sparrowhawk checking in from Southwest Michigan. We have a real solid team here fellas!! My season starts October 1st. This is the first year I will be hunting out of State. I`m leasing some property down in Southern Illinois and plan on hunting there October 6th and 7th, as well as Nov 3rd-11th. I can't even tell you guys how excited I am. I was down the first week of August hanging some stands and scouting. I currently have three stands hung and one camera up down IL. The farmer I am leasing from is going to pull the card for me soon so I hopefully will have a few bucks to put on the hit list. I plan on hanging a few more cameras when I go down the first week of October. I have two cameras out in the woods here in Michigan. I have had a lot of bucks show up on camera but only one that I really think I would shoot, a 2.5 8pt that I think would go around 120". Here is a couple still photos from video of a buck I took about 2 miles from the piece I will be hunting in ILL. I can't believe the season is almost here!!!!
Welcome Sparrowhawk. That's a nice looking buck right there. Good luck in the chase. I know I've not been on here long but this contest is great for getting one to interact a little more. As if I wasn't already excited enough, this contest has me a little giddy.

I like the team name and logo!! Dan can't agree with you more on that non resident tag price. Main reason im heading out of State is not only do I not see the number of deer here I use to, I just don't see the mature bucks. I didn't see one 2.5 year old while on stand during the entire season last year, and I hunt a lot! I know there are a lot of great States to hunt with cheaper tag prices but I came across the right lease at the right time. I saw more deer in one night driving in the evening in IL then ill see driving/hunting the entire season here in MI. Now I just hope I see a lot of deer while hinting!!
I don't blame you for hunting Illinois either. I hunted there for 3 years and plan going back, but time is the issue. Kids and life do that to an old man!

Yeah, probably wont be too impressive, I try to hold out for 115 or better, anything on the border is fair game here, but my property has produced 140" deer so its not out of the question, just a long shot. Ill contribute points through a nanny anyways. Season starts in a little over a week
Its not going to take a bunch of giants to win this thing. If the majority of us shoot does and we lay down a decent number of bucks we'll be golden. So, you can see it doesn't take giant bucks and that does add up.
Even with our ten members, not including shed, the total for last year is highly attainable! If we take an AVERAGE buck of 75" plus a doe we are at 1250... Lets do it guys! I'll keep some running tabs on our averages as the season progress' for fun. Glad everyone liked the name and logo, i'll get everything reported to Fitz.
