It's gonna start rocking around here real soon, across he country come Halloween on...deer are gonna be on the ground, good luck you guys, I am onto a giant buck in Idaho, man I hope I get him killed... saw him last night, biggest buck I have hunted in 10 years! No pics yet or cams...just glassed him for the first time... Huge 5x5 main framer with some garbage on his cage..public ground buck... I found him looking for elk for my wife..I could have shot him with the rifle.. but hes such a great buck all I immediately thought I gotta get this deer with my bow..talk about stoked!

I'm ready for some serious hunting this weekend. The forecast shows a South wind on Sat and North on Sun so that will allow me to try some different stands. Can't wait to get out there.

I'll be hunting right outside of a little town called Pleasant Hill and also Barry IL. I've been skunked 5 times in a row here in Michigan, by far the worst season I have had to date. 13 sits now and not one deer in bow range. The deer just aren't moving..... The weather has been crappy, rainy and windy,, tomorrow am I have a perfect West wind for my bedding area stand with calmer conditions!

Anyone having luck this weekend? Passed on a nice 4x4 of about 110". Would have been my biggest buck yet, but really trying to hold out for something nice this year. Kicking myself in the *** now. :poke:

I didn't see any shooters while hunting last weekend but there are a few on my trail cameras. I have named this one the Samurai buck as one side of this rack kinda looks like a sword. He may also be double beamed on the one side too but cannot tell for sure from the picks I have? I'd love to get a shot at this unique looking buck. He is checking out one of the mock scrapes I started two weeks ago (he spent 12 minutes there). The licking branch was hanging lower before but part of it was busted off by other bucks.

Well I got out this past Saturday for a quick morning hunt. was actually sitting in a shooting box because the stand I was going to hunt didn't feel right and it was too late to go to my backup spot. So I sat till about 0915 and saw some movement across the field. A couple does poked their heads into the field and took a quick look. ducked back in and I assumed they were gone. A few minutes later 3 does and a little 4 came out and started grazing a bit. Corn fields are finally cut down at my lease. So they ate a bit and then ducked back in. came out about 20 yds closer and it was actually 3 does, the 4 and a spike. They worked he edge of the field and the treeline ducking in and out alone the edge towards me. I was getting pretty excited as this is the closest I've gotten to shooting range this year. So they are getting pretty close and come me out one last time and it's the 4 and the spike. I had no intention of shooting at one of these but one of the bigger does was actually behind the 2. I came to full draw and told myself if she cuts back in at this one spot I would take a shot at her. Well she does exactly as I had hoped and I let the arrow go. I estimated it to be at 35 yds from the stand and mind you I have never hunting this stand before. It was completely last minute. I give it about 30 to 45 minutes and climb down and slip over to take a look. I am seeing no sign so I was a little disappointed. I keep looking and still nothing so I decide to walk off the cut in to my stand. Sure enough I misjudged. it was actually 47 yds. So I went back and sure enough my arrow was dug in the dirt about 7 yds short of my target. SO the good is that my arrow was on target and had I been better prepared and known the stand better I would have known the distance. Good news is that it was a complete miss and I didn't wing the doe and just leave it wounded. I have to say that I have learned more in the last few months trying to add bowhunting to my deer hunting methods. This has probably been the most exciting hunt I've had. Hunting with a rifle is so much different and I am completely amazed at how nervous I was and ho much I was freaking shaking after the shot. I am a complete amateur at bowhunting so I am taking in all the info and experience I can. I should get out a couple times next week and hope to notch a doe of better to our scorecard. Hope you guys are doing well.

On a side note, this little gem was taken here in my county. Enjoy.

Here's a couple pics from one of my cams. 5 does out for an evening meal and the little spike. I was hoping to catch something of decent size but not yet. Not great footage but I love seeing deer on camera.

Thanks man. Just taking my lumps. lol. I was late to the party getting the cameras set up so I am trying to play catch up and get their patterns down. It looks like we have a cold front rolling in Mon/Tues so I am hoping to get out this weekend. I want another crack at that doe.

    Congrats Paul!

Hopefully the rest of us can knock down a couple more this weekend and start to really build some momentum here.
