I hunted Saturday evening and saw four bucks from my stand (two borderline shooters) but the only buck within rage was a spike. I set up four mock scrapes this weekend and put cameras on each of them. Hopefully I will see some activity on those. I won't be heading back to the hunting land until Oct 20th...but I'll have a lot of time to hunt from then through thanksgiving weekend.

Sounds like everybody has been getting into them. Time in stand will equal a buck on the ground!

Elk season is quickly slipping from my hands and there is not much I can do about it. I do have a late hunt coming up on October 20th on a restricted strip of land. Currently holding elk so we will see how that goes. Now it is time to focus on putting some deer down. I will mostly be focusing on does at this point as my mule deer hunt will take place sometime in November.

Just a reminder to everyone. Make sure we are including the date and time of kill with each submission on the score card thread. Pictures w/o date and time will not be included in the weekly updates until the issue is resolved.

That being said, lets lay down some dates and time this week!:tu:

went out twice this week. pretty chilly here but it had been cold and rainy so I was hoping the break in the weather would bring them out. It did to an extend as I saw 5 but nothing in bow range. They are in there I just have to keep plugging away and hope to get on the board soon. Good luck boys.

I've only been out one time since opening weekend. Saw two little bucks. Taking my 5 year old son out tomorrow to sit in a blind and hopefully kill a doe. I'm saving my doe tags for when he can hunt with me, so hopefully one walks into the food plot tomorrow.

Hope you guys get one! Some of my best hunting memories are from when my dad took me. I thought I was the greatest thing ever. Here is a blog entry on our website that I wrote about those early adventures...Dug pretty deep on this one:tu:

I am currently working on a secret project that may just be my cat in the bag for spot and stalk deer hunting. May have a little unveil here in a few hours.

Nice blog Dave. Family time is great.

I was planning on sneaking up to the cabin to hang a stand on an old logging road that is scraped up hard every year. Its where Big 8 lives. I haven't been in that area and was planning on sitting it tomorrow night to see what's going on. When I told Wyatt I was going up tomorrow to hang a stand he got all excited because he wants to sit in a blind with me and hopefully watch me kill something. It took me all of about 1 second to change my mind. I know he wants to go bad and I can't deny him that. He told me a couple mornings ago that he had a dream that night. Him and I were sitting in a blind on the food plot and I shot a little doe. Hopefully his dream comes true tomorrow night. Any slick head that walks in and gives me a shot will get thumped.

Here is my newest idea put to work. I'm not sure if it will work but I will give it a try this weekend. Might help with open country deer. If not, oh well, LOL.

That would be one tall *** deer. Might keep them from spooking but I dont know that I would count on it.

Very slow around in here. Only been out a couple more times. Hoping to make it out Friday evening with Wyatt in a blind again to shoot a doe. After that, its big bucks only until late season.

I'll be out probably every weekend now through end of November. Also looking forward to checking the half dozen cameras that have been sitting for a couple weeks...some are on mock scrapes I started.
