Silver, so sorry to hear that. Thoughts are sent your war.

Troy, good luck in WA! They are starting to go crazy around here

Dan, good luck to Wyatt in his game and good luck up at the cabin! I expect a big one down. I know it's far fetched but I still want that big 4 point SOB dead, lol.

After today I have 9 days of freedom to terrorize the backwoods. Hitting my elk spot where I had the close encounter from last week. Monday is a rest day to pack, get cameras ready, and get food. Then it's back in to a new spot for a few more days. If I still don't have an elk down by then I head into another old elk haunt.

I am killing an elk in the next 9 days.

Sliver give your son my best and good luck with him.
I hope to get out hunting in northern Wisconsin the last weekend in September on some private land. I have not seen any bucks in the past but they are on the cameras. I must stink or just not timing it right. This will be my third year bow hunting and love it no matter what I shoot. Keep up the good work teammates and talk to you all later.

Just got back home from the cabin. No buck in the back of the truck, but had a great weekend. Saw 16 Saturday night and 19 tonight. Mostly does and fawns and a few small bucks. My big boy Hector has changed has pattern, which I figured he would. I did have another one of my target bucks under me this evening, Stubby, and feeding in the beans at 15 yards, but he came out at last light and it was too dark to shoot. Holding off on shooting a doe until it gets cooler. Should be no problem laying one down.

Don't know when I'll get back out. I have 7 acres of squash and pumpkins to harvest starting Tuesday.

Here's the buck I had under me tonight...

Sounds like a great weekend Dan, felt great to be in a stand I bet!

I didn't see much this weekend, I hunted Saturday morning then was behind the camera the rest of the weekend. Got to video my buddy shooting a doe munching on acorns. My sister shot her first deer with a bow this weekend and it happened to be a nice young 8 pt. Fun seeing someone just starting out being successful!

Dan, stay after it you will get him! The hector Collector...Ok, that was :dan:, but you get the point.

Pure, sounds like you had a great weekend! Congrats to your buddy and your sister. Great to see the women out there.

Ran into a giant bull Saturday. Went after him yesterday and had the entire day ruined by a truckful of hmongs. Area is screwed now, they can be like a cancer. Had a doe feed out to 15 yards on the way out, elected to pass. It was petty hot out and I was still 3 miles in.

Getting my bags packed for an overnight trip this week, may do a day hunt tomorrow to check out a new spot though. Good luck to anyone getting out this week!

I didn't see any decent bucks this past weekend. I spent much of the time putting finishing touches on my rut stand locations. I'll have time off to hunt Nov 1 - Nov 11.

Home from a weekend of elk hunting, no WA bull for me. Real slow and hot out. Couldnt get anything to talk, did see one huge bull and took pics of him just across on some private land we couldnt hunt... Whitetails for me the rest of the month.

Dan good luck getting on the big boys travel. Dave, good luck, how much archery elk do you have left? Coot, sounds like you got a lot set up for the long haul. Paul, any big dudes on the radar?

I was able to get some scouting in on a new property I have permission to hunt .... pretty big place but gets plenty of other hunting pressure too.. some alfalfa and wheat in the low ground, timber all around it. A little to open for me though.. not a lot of brush...

well I was hoping to have gotten out a couple days so far this week but instead I spent the morning at the DR. bad case of Bronchitis. I am hoping the meds kick in fast so I can get out Thursday and Friday. Hoping everyone else is doing a little better than I am so far.

Seems like our thread really slowed down. I'm hoping this is because everyone is in the woods. I still have 2 weeks before I can get out and its driving me nuts.

I had really hoped that would be my scenario. I didn't have to go in all week until 3 so I had hoped to be out each morning. unfortunately I've been sick as hell all week. Thankfully though the other guys on my lease have not been out either so I know the heard is not being thinned without me.

Well, I pretty much took this entire week to catch up on time with my wife and boys, they are both (boys) busy with football and my wife with her H.S. Volleyball team... I processed/vacuum sealed all of our elk, and processed/vacuum sealed whitetail smoked pepper stix and summer sausage. That's all in the freezer now, Freezers are stuffed, its time to get back after the whitetails this evening in Idaho! Back to WA this weekend. Good luck everyone. As much as I needed this time off to get the important stuff in life taken care of, I am anxious to get back in a tree! Have a great weekend

Well my season kicks off tomorrow morning guys!!!. Only does, but I'll take it! The temperatures look great with a High of 57 and 56 degrees for this two day early anterless hunt. Lows will be flirting in the high 30s around 40 for these morning hunts. The corn where I hunt is also completely down already, and this is first time I can remember it being down before late October. I hope to tack on 50 points for team 19 this weekend, and put a little venison in the freezer also!! All of Sheds talk about his pepper sticks has me craving some smoked venison:lol: Good luck to everyone else hunting this weekend.

If anyone wants to exchange texts while hunting this season my # is 2697442150

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on much. Been a busy vacation week of elk hunting. Close calls but no elk yet. Worst rut I have ever seen, temperatures are just way to hot this year. Not sure how everything else will pan out. Good luck to everyone else getting out!

Hot weather and not much movement this weekend, big bucks are well educated now with all the archery elk hunters tromping the brush. I'm gonna hit it a couple times this week after work, No hunting for me this coming weekend, got some logging to do. Then my seasons all close down from Oct 1-9... which will be good to take a little pressure off. I'm gonna be running cameras during the down time, adusting stand locations if need be based one what I see from the cams and observations. I have some brand new areas to scout and set up in for rut too, I am probably going to do more inseason scouting in OCT than ever before, really gonna try to find a few more magnum bucks to hunt, 160 + type deer. Both in Idaho and WA. I have one giant that I still hope is alive, I just am having NO luck locating him yet. I only know him from his rutting travels, so his home could me miles from where I am searching for him now. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

That stinks Dave, yeah lots of heat and smoke over here too, bull bugled this morning at my home, 1.45 a.m. sucker woke me up..but your right they are talking very little.. I think this last week of archery over here they will pick it up a little, the weather condtions/seasons are like 2 weeks late this summer/fall here .. critters were real late on shedding velvet here too.
