LMAO doesn't surprise me. Logically how in world could anyone CARE if a second buck was counted as doe points when all a guy can get is BUCK tags..some of my areas don't even allow cow elk or doe hunting this year do to wolf impact..for the most part, I could kill a doe ANY day of the week as most hunters could that put in some decent scouting and prep and hunted smart... on the other hand, a buck, especially a big mature buck ... NEVER any day of the week simply due to lack of them being out there not to mention all the other big buck factors!... Oh well, maybe I just think different than everyone else. Guys like me that can only get buck tags ...and the second one costs 300.00 are not going to shoot a 300.00 doe.

I see this logic, guys that can't get doe tags.. thats all I was ever asking.. Dan and Fitz I at least THANK u for bringing to the table whether or not if happens.. last year when I asked.. NO one even would respond to it.. so thank U ....

As for everyone else on the team, keep after it its so early, Tyler.. don't get down bro, man I can't tell you how many times I have hunted all season long only to finally kill the buck I was after on the last day of the season last minutes! Its all worth it..

Can't wait to see everyone on the team rolling here pretty soon. I sure enjoy this team stuff and getting to know everyone.. I have a terrible wind today where I wanted to hunt so I am gonna chill till about 1.5 hours before dark and slip out for a little "bear" thats been visiting my bait.. taking the recurve!

Definitely not down but thanks for the encouragement. I've struggled for 4-5 years to find a place to go since I moved here. So anytime I get is a blessing and I am thankful for it. It'll come for sure. I hung a camera at the new stand when I left so hopefully I can get a better feel for what is going on there. Next week since I'm on 3-11 I have every morning to hunt so I can save my remaining vacation for the late season. I am still super excited and looking forward to seeing what happens. Hate the deal with the does for you but I don't blame you. Not paying 300 for a doe. lol. Thanks again for the encouragement and will hopefully have a good report next week.

Anyone else getting out this week? Our annual Lancruiser wheeling event is this weekend so no hunting for me till Monday.

I didn't bring anything back from Colorado but did fulfil one goal which was getting a buddy an animal. Came up on two 150-160 inch mule deer, got on the range finder and watched him smoke one. Its his fourth Western hunt and first animal so very happy for him and proud I was part of it. Ended up on a lot of elk, don't know how I didn't fill my elk tag but thats how things go at times. Ended up home three days early, left a friendship on the mountain which is unfortunate. Will be headed to Wisconsin for the opener, looking for a buck I call split brows, hope he shows up. Might sit on some bear bait Sunday. Good luck everyone and Congrats on a nice elk Troy!

Troy, sounds like the second buck as a doe will be a no go this year and a decision will be made before next season.

Good luck when you get back out Tyler.

Paul, good to hear you got your buddy a good mulie. Sorry to hear about losing a friendship. Always sucks. Good luck this weekend in WI.

Sliver, when do you start hitting the woods?

Whitehunter, don't be afraid to chime in man. Would love to hear how things are going. Same with the other quiet guys.

Burglar, welcome to the team! Do you hunt the SE part of the state?

As for me, I hit the woods this Saturday. Morning spots are a no go right now. I have one particular buck I'm after and can really only hunt him in the evening, as of now. There is really no way to get in the area in the morning without spooking him or quite a few other deer. He's been holding his pattern pretty well and entering one of our bean fields in front of one camera and exiting in front of another, before it gets light out. I figured out he's entering the field, getting on a tire track the sprayer left in the beans, walking it to the east side of the field, feeding a little bit and then exiting to get a drink at one of the only water spots left. Its dry as hell here. I have set ups for him and will be able to hunt no matter the wind. Hopefully it comes together. Because I was in Canada for all those years, I've never had the opportunity to pattern a buck like this. Pretty cool deal.

Here's a pic of him from last Friday just before he left the field.

That's a great buck Troy! I don't think he'd quite make 170 though, his 4's seem a little too short. Really though, its hard to tell from one pic, especially with his other ear back. Is this one you're after?

Sounds good bud! The rest of the team will make up for it and lay down a pile of deer. :)

Dan, I hope you kill that dude!

Paul, Good on you for getting your buddy the buck. Sorry to hear of the friendship implications, hope it all smooths out.

Troy, that buck and bull are total STUDS! My mine is blank right now, did you fill your ID or WA elk tag?

Yes, he's definitely a solid 160s buck Troy. And you're right, he has real good beams, at least 25" I would say.

That bull is a stud! Are you hunting him in WA yet?

I upload my pics to Photobucket and use the direct link. Your school probably has sites like Photobucket blocked, is all I can think of. I'm sure you could see it from your home computer. The buck in the pic is a 10 that I think will go between 148-152". Pretty rare for us to get bucks over 150" on our property here in WI. We don't have the phenomenal genetics like Buffalo County and other parts of the state has. Its all flat, clay, wet and swampy ground. But, its ours, so I can't complain.

Thanks Dave. I'll give it my best shot. All he has to do is show up!

When you getting back out Dave?

Not sure yet, been doing a lot of planning/packing. Meeting up with a buddy coming down from AK and backpacking in for a few days next week after elk. New spot I have never been in. 5 miles off any roads and in a serious hell hole bowl that has water in the bottom and beautiful parks up top. Should be littered in sex crazed bulls.

Now that I missed my shot after a velvet buck I am focusing more on Mule Deer. More so in November. I will more than likely not be contributing points for a while, except for a doe possibly.. But, I am an opportunist, if a big buck gives me a look I'll give him a broadhead:evilgrin:
