Team #19 - Deerly Departed

I saw all kinds of deer along I-95 coming home from work tonight. I'm so ragged out tired if I could shoot a deer I don't think I could hit it.

Well I got out tonight and saw about 8 deer. They were running all over the place and I was thinking a buck was to blame but no buck in sight. About 10 min after leaving the property for home it started to snow. We have a good amount of accumulation here in the city so it should be even more where I hunt. If I was hunting the stand I wanted to I would have a deer but I couldn't find the landowners ladder so I went to another stand close by and watched the deer go right to the other stand. Ill hopefully be getting out Sat and Sunday next weekend so i hope to at least get a doe for the freezer.

 

Ain't that always the way! I know when I don't see deer on one property I always think if I just went to one of the other ones.

Sorry guys I haven't been on here much that storm came thru IL took my power out my for two days. The tornado missed my buddies house by a 1/2 mile... Thank goodness. This weekend was firearms season shot a button buck Friday night. The deer really started to move Saturday night. So hopefully I can get out this weekend with bow and take out a big one.

 

Where does your buddy live there was some tornados around southern Illinois but nothing bad I'm the county I live in. Hopefully thanksgiving weekend I can get a buck down

He lives in long point which is a really tiny town. I am about 30 to 35 mins away from Washington where the big tornado hit, I know a guy who totally lost his house.

I haven't shot any of the recurves since the summer but I took one out to shoot this evening.

Congrats on the doe VA! I'll get out on sunday but other then that thats it for me for the year. Sorry i couldn't get the team some points this year.

 

Big snow system moving in tomorrow so I am hoping to get out at least on day this weekend. I haven't been out to my spot since I November 7th when I shot that buck. I hoping I get to score it this weekend to put it on the board.

 

Good luck man we had a big snow ice storm move in a week ago and I haven't been hunting in it yet still ice on some roads

That ice storm is hitting the east coast now. Good luck to those of you still hunting. I have taken down all of my stands and admitted defeat this year. This is my first year with out harvesting a deer but I still had a good season. Sorry I couldn't be a help this year in the contest.

 

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. I've been trying to kill one particular buck and he keeps giving me the slip. I went to hang a stand one night and forgot some stuff to climb the tree with so I got pi$$ed and went back home. Went back the next day and hung my set and checked my camera...... go figure an hour after I leave the big guy walks right under my stand!!!! Heres a pic of the buck I'm still chasing! I've already passed the other guy several times.

 

That's deer hunting Rut. I think that deer pattern people and what times they usually go in and out of the woods. Good luck next time.

 

Sorry guys, I will be cutting my season short. I have a surgery consult on Friday to have my gall bladder out the end of this month. Bad season for me.

I didn't get a chance to go hunting this weekend because when I drove out to where I hunt I couldn't park anywhere without getting stuck. I scored my buck this weekend and I came out to be 90 I think I might of screwed up so I am going to try and get a second opinion. I believe it should be a little bigger than that. Good luck Mike on the surgery.

 

Checked my camera this afternoon and had 2 bucks that had lost one side of there has gear already kind of odd but I'm hoping to get out tomorrow

I hope to get out at least one more time before buck season ends. I still need one more EAB doe before another buck.
