We had strong winds today and 30 mph gusts. Needless to say I went home after work and tuned my back-up bow. Maybe I'll get out tomorrow PM.

Struggling on my farms so I hunted my buddies farm on the river. Well, I looked at Google earth compared to where he's been hunting and found a spot that looked good in my eyes. So I did a hang and hunt the night before the hunt. Sat all morning til 11 and saw 2 does and a small buck. Tonight on the other hand I had my target I was sent in after at 100 yards at 430pm. A clean 10 with a drop tine. I couldn't get him to commit any closer than 80 yards before he worked his way into some standing corn. When I looked over my shoulder there was another shooter 80 yards away on a water hole. I grunted twice, he snapped his head up and came on a rope!!! He hit my 50 yards clearing and starting putting tension on the bow but knew he'd work closer. He hit the main trail coming right to me for a 20 yard shot and stopped shy at 32 yards behind a massive amount of limbs!!! $HIT!!! I had one small window to shoot thru but didn't like angle so I passed. This was a solid 150" 8 point with 9" brows that my buddy has never seen. Makes me sick to not get a shooter on cam all year and then see two in one night and not get the shot off. TOO top it off at lunch I saw a 150" 9pt and 130ish 11pt two properties over 25 yards off the road locked on a doe!!!! Looks like I'm taking leave from work again and diving back in......

    Here's Droppy:

Atleast your seeing them Rutin! I only saw one buck this season and that was when I was walking to my stand and I spotted him 10 yards behind my stand.

Going out for one last weekend before our gun season opens on 11-23-13. So far nothing seen but yearling bucks and does that keep busting me. Rut is just now picking up in my area. Missed a nice big doe last weekend. Got her on my game cam seconds before I shot under her.

Well it's good to be in a tree again but some guy just short standed me. I bet he isn't 60 yds away. I've whistled 3 times at him and he's ignored me. Now that I hollered at him he's finally getting down.

Just had what looked like a spike walk by at a distance heading to where I put my stand at times. Isn't that always the way! There's still time

I was hoping to go out this weekend but I had to work on Saturday and the wind is blowing 30 plus today so I don't think I will make it out this weekend. Work has been so busy that I cant even get out during the week. I am hoping to go and get my trail camera down today before it starts to pour. I kind of scored my buck but the score came out weird so I am going to you tube on how to score it. Hope everyone has good luck this weekend.

I killed a 3 point this morning. I hope that broke my dry spell. I saw 1 nice buck but he was covered up in brush then too far. 2 does came out to greet him but never came close enough. The 3 pt got shot in the shoulder at 18 yards and dropped right there, never got up again.

This means I have to shoot 2 does before I can take another buck. EAB can be rough!

I'm on another property right now hoping for those EAB does.

3:15 PM and back in a tree. It's VERY WARM but no breeze at all and overcast. I'm on the same property I shot that 3pt in but different location. I expect deer to come from this direction but who know what they'll do.
    Here I go.

Well it has started to sprinkle so I had to take out my hearing aids. That means my head has to keep turning back and forth like an owl. I'll never hear a deer creeping by.

There no Sunday hunting in VA...yet. I haven't hunted with a gun in years now except for and occasional squirrel hunt.
