Well my hunting trio got a good set hung tonight. It's a double set for filming. As I sat in the stand I saw a limb that needed trimmed and of course the pole saw was just a tad short so the only option was someone was getting on someone else's shoulders for the extra heigth. All I could do was sit in the stand and laugh.. And take pics of course.
Was planning a relaxing weekend for Labor day but all that changed yesterday with getting my old property back. Will be back out putting up a camera and hanging two stands this weekend. What is everyone's plans for the holiday?
I've got 6 cuddebacks out now and 1 on the way... lots of does.. on spot in CT has a couple studs on cam... CT opens Sept 15, so I am just hoping they stick around... one would by far be the biggest deer I've ever killed locally (CT/MA). I usually head out to Western NY to a place that is very intensely managed where I have taken 3 nice bucks over the years... but other than that place and 1 of those deer, this buck is by far the biggest... I hope I get a crack at him before he and the bachelor group break up.
Labor Day is the last really busy portion of the season here at the resort. Once we get through that, it'll be a mad dash to get ready for opener and Colorado. Plus we'll be starting on a fairly sizeable remodeling project in the Lodge. Busy, busy, busy...
any of yall have any luck using no-till seeds? I am thinking about planting this in one or two locations that aren't really accessible by a tractor. My plan is to spray the area to kill all the grass then use a rake to strike the ground before throwing the seed. Is it worth it? Amazon.com : Whitetail Institute Imperial BowStand Plot Mix 4 - lb. Labor day weekend I might buy a new bow!!!! But other than that it'll be pretty chill I believe. Sept 3 I'll be a busy bee. Hanging stands and trimming shooting lanes, pulling some sd cards and see whose showing up, checking on my plots, and maybe a little dove hunting!
mylsuhat, i have never had any luck with no till in my spots, but the soil here usually sucks unless heavily lymed. i have buddys who have put in their food plots that were previously treated and had great luck
