We've seen 6 deer since yesterday, all just outside of comfortable bow range in some thick stuff, we're pulling an all day sit this morning hopefully they'll cooperate with us a little more today. Good luck all!! Hopefully the next time I post it'll be for at least 50 points!!
So here's what I'm contemplating... below is the weather outlook for the opener. I am heading up to the camp Tuesday night after work and will be in the stand the morning of October 1st! Plan is to hunt till mid-day Sunday then come back home but the weather for Monday is looking great compared to the other days..... think I'm going to have to tell the boss that I may not be back in till next Tuesday Man I just can't wait!
Nice work CMTRAV!!!! Way to get it done... I hope you connect on that bull MKWA! I shot one moose back in '08 in New Brunswick.. Used my rifle, but chould have shot with my bow... big one too... Someday i'll get after moose again. Keep at it Billy... you'll get one.. Good luck MYLSUHAT.. hope the weather works out for you. Went out Fri in CT. Saw a doe.. no shot. NY opens Wed. I'll be out Wed afternoon. Mostly does on cam now, so I'll just take the first one that I see.
Spent the weekend in one of my less than productive properties (northern zone early season starts 4 days earlier than the rest of the state) no luck saw 8 deer all on the same path all different hours all at 65yards. Hitting my prime spot Wed for our opener and I'm more than pumped!! My odds are pretty good of seeing some big does and some bucks. Might tickle a rattle together just a bit to see if I can spike the curiosity of Ol dark horn himself. Good luck!!!!
Went out tonight and came back empty handed. Didn't get to sit in the stand I had hoped because the Amish guy was working his hay field.
haven't been out since last Friday. Going to hunt NY opener tomorrow... not much buck activity at my spots, but I'm hoping to get a doe down first couple of nights..

Today was very interesting to say the least! Morning hunt I sat in an oak funnel that was raining acorns. Right at light I hear one behind me and I see this small deer with big ears just behind me. I'm assuming it's one of the 2 spikes we've been getting on camera in the area. About 10 minutes later I hear another deer coming in the same spot. I see this real big doe walk out. She's 20yds but I don't have a shot. She keeps looking back and eventually a spotty fawn comes up. They hung out a bit the walked off. Tonight I sat on a food plot and it was quiet until 6:45 when I saw movement. Through the thickset brush around I see a real good 8pt walk up into the plot. 30yds away but no shot. He walks off away from me into some oaks for the night. All in all great day. Hoping to let one fly tomorrow tho.
went out for the NY opener afternoon sit last night.. had a button buck and doe fawn come in early and mill around me for about an hour... then, right a last light, 5 came off the ridge. With shooting light fading fast I grabbed my bow and didn't realize one had slipped in behind me... it spooked and the closest doe locked up about 25 yards in front of me. I drew and must have rushed and not settled in well as I shot right over her back. She was on high alert, so may have jumped my string a bit, but i just flat out whiffed... today's a new day.. gonna let that spot rest this afternoon and go shoot a doe in my other spot. Good luck!
