5 days 2 hrs boys starting out on public as I will most of September letting the private spots rest til mid October unless conditions are perfect. Got my trees picked out for a few different winds ! Never used the lonewolf in the dark so I a little nervous about that but I am sure it'll be fine. If a doe walks in range she is done for even though the # tree I have picked is for Pillager I won't be able to contain myself.

Holy Buckets Sooner! You didn't waste any time getting that done. Good work. Minnesota, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother and will pray for her and your family.

I made the 21 hour drive to Wyoming, got in 9 holes of golf and did some scouting. EHD has taken a lot of the big bucks I had planned to hunt but I've seen 5 that I will gladly take if given the chance. 125 to 135 but I'm not complaining. Those are shooters most of the time for me anyway. I skipped the morning hunt in favor of scouting and watched a decent buck and three does leave the field and quickly made a ground blind out of some brush. I'll be there tomorrow morning. Tonight I sat on the ground in tall grass next to a giant cottonwood tree where two bucks passed by two nights ago. I had planned to put up a stand but the tree was rotten and had a huge bee hive right at 15 feet up. I sat at the base of it and had bees buzzing me all evening. I had a doe at 12 yards and then a doe and fawn pass 6 yards from me and I never got busted. :) The bucks went out another side of the field but I did see a couple of decent older bucks. I have a doe tag but it was 90 degrees and I didn't want to deal with that tonight... unless it was a buck :D. There were about 30 deer in the field tonight which sounds good but usually its more like 80 to 100. Interestingly, we've found 5 dead does and no bucks so far. I've seen at least 6 fawns running around without a mom. Weird... I'll give an update in a day or two.

Sat this morning and had a rooster pheasant at 35 yards... nothing else. Deer were in the field and left the field in another direction. I sat tonight and had an absolute monster at 34 yards and couldn't get a shot. A solid 140 8pt, maybe 145. I wanted to puke when he left. Had does and fawns under my stand and a big raccoon fishing for crayfish in the creek under my stand. It was an awesome night. Still sick about the buck...or, NO buck. :D

Good luck Jerry, hopefully next time you see him you get a crack at him.

Not much new going on here, less than 2 weeks until the opener but right now they are showing 90+ degrees that weekend. If that's the case I'll let the woods sit until a cool snap.

I did get out and shoot for a little while this weekend, I hate to say it but I just haven't shot enough this year. My accuracy and consistency is fine but I can only shoot 30 or so arrows and I start to get tired. I guess I'm getting old. Nice thing is only takes one when the time comes to make it happen.

My dad has cattle on one of the farms we hunt, he said he has been seeing 2 "shooter" bucks regularly has seen one "giant" a couple times. I put up a couple of cameras a couple weeks ago when I was down checking cattle, hopefully I get some horn porn to share soon.

I just now got the bow out from it's slumber from April turkey hunting. Put a new sight on and some new string silencer's and she's dialed in at 30 yards. I actually don't quite have the itch yet like I usually do. Might have something to do with the heat spell that ripped through here and being so busy with work. Usually though when that first cool spell comes through and the football starts ramping up at Arrowhead I really start to get the fire going.

Look'n good! I've got Killzones ready to go to work. I've seen huge bucks each night but can't close the deal. Passed this little guy last night and several does. Had two fawns bedded under my stand all evening. They would get up and eat, lay back down. Can't believe they didn't bust me. It was hotter than blazes and the sun was cooking me. Their mom walked up to my tree 15 minutes after I got in it and didn't even get curious. She had to smell something I was sweating like crazy by the time I got to the stand. She then left the fawns for two hours. They were sure glad to see her when she got back. Tonight I went to where the big deer were coming out to the alfalfa and busted a 130 8pt right on the field edge. Seems the deer are bedded on the edge instead of the woods a few hundred yards back. Saw some does and a small buck and had a skunk at 6 feet (I was hunting on the ground). Try again tomorrow. Here's a few pics from the hunt last night.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Awesome pics. Can't wait for Sept. 14th!!!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. It is still touch and go with grandma. She may be coming home from the hospital tomorrow if we can get nursing at her home. Again, thanks.
