Ya I know I would still have a firearm and smokepole buck tag (2) for like 16 days combined hunting, but I still have unlimited does to keep me busy. Oh ya and sika deer !

You guys get alot more tags than we do. I get 8 this year but two have to be used at the refuge. Out of my 6 tags on my lifetime license only two can be bucks.

Beats 1! We get one for each season and a bonus that can be used in any of the 3 seasons after two does are taken.

I'm not liking the change that OK made last year to non-resident tags, if I'm reading the regs right. It used to be $200 for a buck tag and $50 for a doe tag and you could buy two. You could then buy a second buck tag and two more doe tags for the same price. Now its $280 and you get a buck and a doe tag which I don't mind paying, but can't buy a second doe tag. Since I killed a doe in January with my 2013 tag, I can't kill another doe this fall unless I buy a second $280 tag that will expire on 12/31/13. I don't think I want to spend $280 to kill a doe. It will be tough enough to kill one adult buck on public land, much less two.

Im thinking you are reading it right jerry. A few of my AR buddies that hunt here go through the same thing. OK even makes it hard on residents. The only way to even half way save $$$ is by having a lifetime. If your a resident and you dont then it pita.

I'll be out tomorrow morning boys. Hopefully my farm at least gives me a sighting. I have Nov 7th through the 11th off. I figured since the Chiefs are on a bye then that is the perfect time for me to be in the woods the whole weekend. I guess I'll have to listen to the MIZZOU game that Saturday.

Short morning I'm the stand. Saw a small buck with his nose down but nothing else. The guy hunting the adjacent property came wondering close enough for me to strike up a conversation.

I hunted in a blind tonight next to a refuge that holds monster deer...saw nothing. I had a co-worker and his 16 year old daughter on her first hunt ever. She was excited and despite not seeing anything, she had a great time. I'll start hunting on the 7th and pretty much non-stop through the 18th in Oklahoma and Kansas. Good luck fellas.

The word on the street is things are starting to kick in around here, I'll be hunting everyday this week weather permitting. This weekend is a mess, maybe will get one hunt but then should be hunting 5 days next week as well.

Hunt hard, hunt safe boys! Let's get it done!

Saw my first mature buck in daylight this afternoon but not close. Had a doe close late unfortunately she didn't have a a buck in tow. Back at it tomorrow afternoon if the rain clears in the afternoon.

I noticed the leaders are mostly carried by shooting does. We can get right in this with a few doe kills. Hope I can get it done...soon!

I haven't checked in on here in a while, I'm still having a tough time getting a deer in shooting range here in Georgia. In about two weeks I will be in Louisiana hunting a few hundred acres of private land that doesn't have to much hunting pressure. I'm holding onto hope that my season will turn around for me when I get there.

I hunted all afternoon today without seeing a deer. Doing an all day sit tomorrow on the other property, trying like heck to score us a buck. I will not be shooting a doe this year, we have serious population issue and can't justify doing it.

We haven't seen a doe yet this year on my property, that's with at least 2 guys sitting on opposite sides every time to get maximum coverage. I hadn't gone without seeing a deer on any hunt in nearly 10 years until last year. I know I've been complaining nonstop about this and I apologize but this is a whole new and scary world. It is going to take years/decades for the population to recover. We've been spoiled and probably didn't fully appreciate how good we had it.

With that said Nebraska Game and parks is still pushing their rifle permits hard on every media outlet despite the fact there are no deer to hunt. They have lost all credibility, so much for being stewards of the land obviously it is all about the almighty dollar.
