Haha I'm glad you said it...but yeah, I don't get it.

Sent from my phone. Spelling was not a priority.

Where I am from a lot of guys who dont want to do a European mount right away will throw the head on an ant pile. After a while it kind of forms into the ant pile itself and I think makes a pretty stellar little home for them. The ants (and other bugs?) will eat off the flesh and it is kind of beneficial to the hunter and ants.

Atleast I think that is the direction he was going with that.

I am good with any name...that includes Ant Farm. I like the avatar.

Bone stacker was my favorite but, something different is cool.

Ant farm also reminds me of running all over the woods in search of deer.

I think the ant farm thing was vision Ben had. He has a lot big ant hills around his area and he ate some mushrooms while on his way to his stand one day. Then all day while on stand he saw antlers popping out of the ant hills.

Some of us have been doing these competitions for a lot of years and you see the same names all the time.
    Rack Addicts
    Monster this and that
    Death from Above
    etc

At least this is something different. It will probably get a few chuckles. The name doesn't mean much to me as long as we put some bone on the ground. We all had an ant farm as a kid right. Kind of a play on words. Antler farm/Ant Farm.

Play on words mostly. We're looking to plant some antlers on the ground. Boof's theory's cool too though. Avatar isn't completely finalized. MGH may make some background tweaks.

JM, great minds thing alike. I just wanted something different. It literally came to me like 6 months ago.

Looks like the captain is Ben/PA with 57% of the votes. Check us in on the official list man!

I have a camera check coming up tonight or tomorrow, hopefully there is good news to come.

Getting a ton of much needed rain here from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. This should make my fall food plots grow the rest of this year. I won't have any grain from my spring plantings, but I should have plenty of greens to eat this fall. Planted extra since the grain plantings failed.

Planted the majority of my oats today. I have two more 1/4 acre plots and then I'll be done.

Not sure when everyone's season starts, but make sure you know the contest rules. To enter your deer in the contest you need.

    1. 2 pictures of the animal with you and the bow in both pictures. This is a must and the rule will not be bent.
    2. Know how to score the deer if it's a buck. There are a couple helpful threads on this on the forums.
    3. Enter the deer in the scorecard thread.

My camera check tonight was really disappointing. Out of three cameras, only a couple hundred pictures. No big bucks to report. I guess I just have to keep reminding myself it is August and has been about 90 degrees all week.

So far only one shooter on the cameras this year. The good news, if there is a big fella worth going for, I am the only one who hunts this piece of ground this year. This weather has been insane. We finally experienced some typical August weather for about a week straight, now we are back in the 90s and 100s. Ugh.

OK, so when does everyones season start? Or should I say when do we take the lead in the contest. I start in MO on Sept. 15th although I don't have as many places to hunt here as I used to. A lot of my former hunting grounds have been turned into subdivisions or the new owners don't want me bow hunting on their props. I still have a few places and a doe is a good possibility, but a good buck in MO will be tuff.

    IL opener is Oct. 1st.

September 22 for me. Bittersweet when the season opens in September. I want to hunt, but know my limitations.
