This might be one of the best weekends to be in a stand in the midwest. This cold front should have the deer up early and for those that believe in the moon phase stuff, it's supposed to be a great time to be in the woods.

I'll be hunting Saturday- Monday at my place in IL. Good luck team, let's get on the board.

A step away from 50 points Friday night. Called in two small bucks as well. Today was dull. Back in a tree Monday.

Really slow hunting for me towards the end of the week and today. In other news, I did put up my first ever ground blind. I am pretty excited about its location and how it turned out. You can check it out here: http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?39464-Evolution-of-my-Ground-Blind

Im getting anxious, hopefully 50 points is on its way soon. The wind isnt great for me tomorrow morning so I am going goose hunting. Maybe some honkers will change my luck.

S ish winds early this week puts me in a few spots I don't normally get to visit. Unless I get called in to work my second job, I'll be in a LW assault climber in the pm.

My hunting partner put a deer down this last weekend. Wedid see a lot of deer moving this weekend, no big bucks. The trial pics showall the good to big bucks moving at night. I put in 3 mock scrap lines lastweekend and hope they are being worked by the time I get back on wed. With allthe corn gone and most of the bean gone too, the deer a feeding hard on theclover. The green fields are good right now. I am sure they are also hitting the acornstoo. I saw a couple or scraps and norubs. We are just hunting the edges offields now so there may be more scraps and rubs back in the timber.

Back from the long weekend of hunting. I saw deer every sit but still don't have one down. The ones that offer shots are the ones I don't want to shoot, small bucks and button heads. I drew down on one doe early Sat. morning but got busted by one that was standing on the hill behind me. They all took off and proceeded to blow at me for the next half hour I think.

Most of the does were cruising by out of range this weekend and no mature buck sightings.

Ended up getting next week off!! We just finished a japanese sushi bar and will be building an animal hospital in 2 weeks. Just so happens that our down time is the opening week here in MA!!! WOOOO I've got a nice buck targeted this year, I call him Gene. I know his bedding area, escape route, how he moves in AM and I know where there are some nice does bedding too! I'll be hunting by a creek that gets alot of traffic or on a bench not far from the Genes bedding area. Later I'll be hunting over a scrape line. Wind and temps will determine when and where I go but I'll keep you guys posted. Feels good to finally be getting out there with my bow in hand! Monday can't get here quick enough!

    Ben,

Give me that South wind please! My best sets need a wind from the South or East. All I seem to get is SW, W, NW or N.

After having cool weather for opening day and a really cool last weekend, this weekends weather doesn't shape up so good. 82* Saturday and strong storms Saturday evening/night. I'll probably kill something this weekend cause I'll be there.

Well, hunting has been slow lately. Small bucks, does and lone fawns is about all I have seen lately. My cameras are almost all together dead with activity and my big buck hasnt shown his face in about two weeks.

This year I will live and die by the rut, hoping some new Booners move in by then. I have been keeping the shotgun warm though, goose hunting has been overly fun this year! Still, its about time to invest all my time in the treestand.
