I'm headed to my IL property tomorrow around noon. Get there and check cams and hopefully that will tell me where to hunt Monday morning for the opener. I already have good idea where I will be, but I'd like some confirmation if the wind is right. Gonna hunt Monday and Tuesday, I should be able to get us 50 points without too much trouble. Cams have showed lots of does in the plots almost every morning and evening. This is when I start my serious hunting.

Shooter 8 this morning at 75 yards. Two other shooters seen by other guys on my property. I'll be back at it Monday night after work.

Im going to get a little stir crazy this week. I would love to be hunting, but it is my colleges homecoming. I think my priorities for the next couple days are party first, school/work/hunting second.

We'll see, though. With the a cold front coming in a few days I might feel otherwise.

Well got back late last night. Didn't kill anything, NE winds don't allow me to hunt my best spots so I stayed out for better times.

On the positive side. MY bucks are back. I couldn't get a buck on trail cam all summer and over the last 2 weeks I have at least 4 that I think I would drop the string on including one monster that isn't very clear in the 2 pics I got but I know I see split G2's and a lot more bone. Saw some deer, but nothing close enough for a shot.

Scrapes and rubs are everyplace and I got some cool scrape videos I'll post on my facebook page in the next couple days.

Facebook is John Mueller. The one from Florissant, MO

I got back late last night. I only saw two deer. One doethat ran by me and a spike buck that laid down 5 yards from the tree I was in.He lay down with about 15 mins. of shooting light left and would notleave. I was throwing stick and pieces of bark at him after shooting time hadended. I know I hit him many time because he flinched. But to no avail just wouldnot get up from his bed. I finely threw a glove at him and it was the perfectkill shot for a glove......LOL he turned his head to smell the glove with one whiffof the glove he was on his feet and moving away.
All the corn was taken out of my ground on the 29th and30[SUP]th[/SUP]. This has changed mygame plan and took 4 great tree stands out of play. I will be back out this Friday. So what do you boys think of using a buck decoy this early in Oct.? I love to use them but have never used one befor the last week in Oct.

Rut, from what I saw last weekend, now might be the perfect time to use a buck decoy. I was thinking the same thing when I go back this weekend. I had 5 different sparring sessions on my trail cams this past weekend.

Skipped tonight in lieu of cutting some more wood. Need the cash and it was gonna be hot and muggy here. I'll be back at it tomorrow in a old favorite ash tree. Good hunting boys, good hunting.
