I will not be hitting the woods until next Saturday. Too hot this week for me to make the drive home to hunt. Next weekend conditions should be a little better/cooler. The week after next I will really begin logging some quality days in the woods. Like I had hopped the corn is starting to come off back home! This should really help make deer more visible. My brother checked cam and although he didn't get eh buck on camera he spotted a main frame 12 point today walking to the cam (didn't spook him either) He said he got a good look at him and feels he is 190 inches. There is really only about 1 other hunter directly in the area of this buck not including my bother and I, however, as the rut rolls around his area could surely expand. I hope I can get an eye on him or better yet an arrow in him to determine just how big he really is.

Had a concert tonight in town where I live. Jerrod Neimann, Eli Young Band, and Dierks Bentley sure did put on a great show!

Hey fellas, just wanted to check in. I've been getting out, but not much action to speak of. I've seen plenty of deer and the little bucks are posing for me, but the nannies and big boys are staying out of range and making themselves scarce.

In the last month I've lost 3 properties to hunt and had a trail camera stolen as well so it's not been a good season thus far. The way I figure it my luck has got to turn around sooner or later so hopefully that means there's a wall hanger in the not to distant future.

Good luck to all those that are getting out.

3 Trail cameras pulled in last 2 days. No mature bucks on any of them this time around. The sheer volume of pictures was also lower then typical. Deer sightings have really dropped off in the last week with high temperatures here in WI. I'll be out next Saturday, and I hope the temps continue to drop back down into the 50's and lower. My brother sat 3 evening sits all on different properties. Thursday, Friday, and last night. He sat over a pond and seen 3 (One 2 1/2 yr old 7 point) and then seen 5 does while on an acorn ridge with alfalfa planted in the valleys to the northwest and southeast. Last night he sat another oak ridge flat (where 1 passed the nice 8) and got skunked. He was hoping to have the encounter I had and would harvest tis buck. He has only taken 1 buck with a bow (only his 3rd year hunting) and I a proud that he has upheld high hunting standards just as he has always done via gun hunting.

Note to all: if you mostly have pics of doe's then that is freaking great. Because, come rut you'll be in the hog heaven. Since I finally have a place to hunt for many years to come I can manage my bucks. With that said, I have areas of my propriety that are filled with does. I have set up signs that read DO NOT HUNT THIS AREA. This is my doe area and come rut this will be where I’ll hunt all day. The does will stick to this area and the bucks will come in.

I'll get out this weekend, but I'm not overly optimistic. Its just that time of year where there is't much of any mature buck movement during daylight hours.

Well its 2:40 AM and I am still working. I’ve only been up since 12:00 AM regardless I can sleep in to get caught up on sleep, so Instead, I may head down to hang another set up on the property. I had a neighbor set up on the fence line facing my property last year, but only 90 yards from my small hang on. he probably didn't see. I heard a gunshot, from that direction, last year on opening day for shotgun and that’s when I discovered the stand. Needless to say, I am hoping by hanging a stand there, that I may, prevent this ace from hunting my property again. Especially, when it’s that close to my "Ghost” sightings. Plus I was hoping to hunt it as well. Lol

Hopefully, I’ll take the little guy to daycare and then head that way around 7:45.

well I'm back from my visit to my property and it was very productive to say the least. I observed a single doe at the entrance of the property in a small (3 acer) bean field. I as close as 20 yards to her before she ran off. moving forward, I noticed a ton of deer droppings along this bean field (very Fresh) they were piles and clump's. I hung my climper up near my buck stand and some AceHole put his stand up on the property line facing all of the rubs on my property. needless to say I placed my climper in front of his stand. I plan on hanging some of my smelly socks there for shot gun season. hehe! Next, I pulled the camera from my food plot and it was full. I forgot it at home, so the pics will have to wait until this afternoon. I'm hoping to find "Ghost" or someother biggens on it. I'll be using this camera to decide on wher to hunt next Sat.

I'm excited to get back out Saturday morning after a 2 week hiatus. I have spoke with some friends around the area I hunk and they have been hearing some grunting in the woods. 1 buddy had a great encounter with a mature buck he called in, however, he was unable to close the deal. I'll be looking to possibly tickle the horns a little and do some grunting. I may also get out the carrylite and use a decoy setup if all goes well. Looks like a steady west to northwest wind this weekend so I'll be able to get into some new stands I've put up this year on new properties and just others I haven't hunted yet this year.

But I will be hunting alot this week I'm going to try and put some points on the board sorry I've been slacking!

I know moat ppl don't shoot small buck but around here a 4 pt is big lol

I hope the treatment works well for her. It's a long season, there's no rush. Best of luck!
