Well, this weekend was not so good. Deer 2, me 0. Had a couple does come near but not into shooting range and got my day cut off early yesterday due to a severe thunderstorm (tree stand + lightning not a good idea). Still got plenty of time left. BTW i would also love to have a crack at a few of Dunn's deer. those are really nice

I am going to be "In Stand" by 4:00 AM. I'll be hunting near the property line next to the very thick bedding area of "Ghost". Depending on the wind of course. If the wind is blowing from the south, then I won't be able to hunt that stand. Most likely it will be a western wind still not the best, because it will be blowing directly to the deer trail that settles along the property line.

I'll most likely stay in the stand until at least 9 AM, and then ninja style exit. but if I see Ghost prior to shooting light go into the bed, then you better believe I'll be in that stand until he back out.

In the evening I'll return to the same stand around 3 PM. I have trail cam pics of "Ghost coming out of the bed and walk right in front of my stand at 12 yards right around 6 PM. so unless I die before Saturday I have great odds of finally harvesting a buck of a life time. There are 4 hit list bucks and he is number 1 again this year.

I am very much so, contemplating on trying the vanilla extra here. It might pull "Ghost of his bed for second or two to check it out. I know for a fact that he likes sniffing things I hang in front of my cameras. Also, he had a nice buck in following him this summer. His buddy is near the 130 140 range, so I can kill 2 bucks. We’ll see. I'll probably stop hunting after Ghost hits the ground. Well at least until shot gun season opens. November 18 for dis guy.

the buck attached is on the bottom of my hit list.

BB down. Had said I couldn't shoot a fawn earlier, I guess I was wrong. Looked big enough from the tree. Not enough meat, but I'm sure it'll be tasty. Gives me a reason to shoot another deer. :)

    Awesome job. Pictures please.

I am very optimist about harvesting GHOST on opening day. I am set up south of his bedding area and the winds will be out of the North West. Temps will be the lowest yet this year (39) and I’ve purchased every type of scent control clothing that is offered. Also I will be in stand at least 2 hours prior to first light. Hopefully I’ll beat him to the bed and not bump him. Ninja style always. if not I am not the least bit worried, since we have a long season ahead of us all.
With that said, I am going to buy a Ninja outfit, and put a large 18 on the front, for the pictures. That will be funny as hell when I post them on the score board. Feel free to join in. We’ll surely be known the Booner assassins then. Is it too late for a name change? All though Boone is a firearm kill, oh well?

Pictures are in the score card thread. It's pretty tiny, but it's worth 50 points and it'll taste better than those big ones I'm sure. Bought another antlerless deer tag and still have my two any deer tags. Hoping to put an arrow through this big one that keeps coming on the property I hunt. We'll see! Thanks for the congrats guys, best of luck to you all! I am taking the next two weeks off because we're going on a trip. I'll be back in the stand at the end of October though, so, only time will tell. I'm ready for rut now.

On a side note, going to ask my girlfriend to marry me while we're on vacation this week! I was thinking on top of the sears tower observation deck, but I think I'll wait until it feels right and not try so hard to plan it. Cool part, our trip is 7-11th. The card I made the last payment for her ring expires 7-11, and I like to gamble so 7-11 are good things. Plus, who doesn't like a 7-11 slurpy. Anyway, wish me luck!

Best of luck to you all out on their stands. Let's get some points added up!

Man I cannot bear the excitement. By dad just spoted 2 slobs lastnight on 1 of our properties when driving around at night shining. The chance of harvesting them this time are year are most likely little to none as it is our first encounter with them which tells me there are probably nocturnal right now. I want to get in on this part of the farm so bad, however, I know if I do i will regret it. Last thing I want to do is effect their pattern and make them feel unsafe when they are probably not really even killable right now. They are being seen off the road and this property I hunt is a secluded 40 that is the 3rd 40 in on a 120 acres we own. This area basically constitutes as a late October and November hunrting area so I'll just have to wait. I know the calley they are spending a lot of time in and the ridges they are using to get out to the beans/alfalfa, but I am going to stay out and try to remain calm. I will be in an observation stand tomorrow night as I will get to the farm late. I will then be hunting all weekend for 4 sits. Sorry guys but I will not be shooting a doe early in the season either. I will be waiting until I get a buck or for later in the year to do so.

Lastly, I must vent some frustration. A kid from the small town I grew up in leases a 40 next to a 120 (share a 40 fence line) we lease and he has been tresspassing on our property. He has commented to my brother (around his age) on our stand placements and a ground blind we have just set up. He has commented saying try to keep me off and etc. I doubt this was the first time nor will be the last. My brother approached this very calmly and professionally, however, the other person did nothing of the sort. Very frustrating when we are staying out of properties right now, hunting edges, playing the wind, and all around doing a good job to manage the piece that we know has some quality bucks and some punk is trespassing all over our property.

Dunn, that's one of the few things that really makes me mad. I can't stand the thought of someone coming on to my land without permission and hunting or even scouting around, hope you get it taken care of.

Vendetta, good luck on the proposal! Let us know how it goes!

Had a short sit tonight, saw 3 does within 10 yards on the way to the stand, that's it. Excited for Saturday to do my first morning hunt of the season!

Just picked up a JVC HDD Hybrid 30gb 34x zoom camera. Just a handheld and nothing expensive, but I'm excited about it and the camera arm I picked up. Hope to catch some footage on this and my iPhone! I'm hoping for a 220-230pt. weekend for the team! Lets just say I now have 2 bucks that are bigger then anything I've had on my property before. Will I get them this sean well that I'm not so sure of as it is a small piece of property with a lot of archery hunters around. However, I have as good of a shot as the other few who hunt the area. Where's that Horseshoe?!
