I had a big interview today trying to get in with the Ohio department of agriculture. I would be working on the same project, just not as a contractor anymore. Still walking around in the woods and looking for sheds!

I love my Covert cams. Night pics are sketchy with the lower end cams, but the daytime pics make up for it.

    Awesome! Best of luck, man.

I work as a contractor for the USDA and was just talking about applying to a GS slot that is opening up. Funny ole world ain't it?

Did some shooting yesterday. 25 and in I'm great. Past that I'm ok but I'd like a little tighter groups. I think it's just a matter of shaking off some rust. Going to check my local cam on Friday.

I'm deadly from 16 yards...that's maxing out my backyard range.

Yeah I was pretty rusty the other day. It surprised me actually. More shooting today. I can get out to 40 yds in my back yard and usually I practice out to there anyway.

One more week an I'll be in the woods. Got from the 6th to the 18th off September off. Hoping to get at least 50 points within the first few days. Hoping a decent buck walks by before a doe does. I feel really comfortable out to 50 yards.

Work didn't get rained out on Tuesday, but Harvey is giving us 3-5 inches today. I have to change ratchet straps on 2 old stands, put up a new ladder stand, check 4 cams, and see how my oat/turnip plot is doing. Oh, there is a blind that needs put up too. I better get started!

Checking 1 cam today and putting up a new cam on a farm I've been hunting for the last 10 years. There's been 2 brother bucks running together for the last 4 years. The land owner said they have blown into giants this year and he sees them both nearly every day in day light. The trick will be to keep seeing them in day light til the season opener.

Well I have successfully restrained myself from tromping around certain parts of my lease this year. I don't have a camera in the core area of it, so I really have no idea what is going on in that part. The only encouraging thing this year is I have many more does cruising than last year. I have some last minute items to cross off the list, but those don't require me to be on the property. I am on the fence for a lock on stand. Lone Wolf Assault II or the Xop variant. I have heard lots of different opinions and it seems that you really can't go wrong, but it also seems both make your wallet lighter. Main point is I need one. My lease has a total of 2 straight trees for my Viper climber, and the other areas I hunt are a haul to get to. 22 pound Viper/11 pound Assault....no brainer. Lighted nocks and shooting are all I have left to prepare. I also started a light workout routine, because last year I think I almost died pulling a doe out from a mile in. 15 days till opener! Good luck and happy hunting, fellas!

What do you guys think of the plot after 2 weeks? I have a bag of clover that I was going to frost seed here, but I'm thinking about throwing it now to fill in the holes... 20170901_100556.jpg

Pretty good I'd say for two weeks! And I'd agree with throwing the clover out now.

Haha. Well my countdown is now in the low single digits. Can't wait to be in the woods Thursday morning. An change out memory cards. Might even take the cams down. Haven't decided yet.
