Dang. That's a long day right there. Keep at it man. It's just getting good. It's crazy how it can go from nothing to trying to take a shot in just a matter of a few seconds. That's the rut.
How many tags do you get in Ohio? I still have 2 doe tags, though I'm not sure how likely I am to fill them. A late season chip shot will likely help make that decision. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
You can take up to 6 deer in Ohio with only one buck. It's a county by county basis. I live in a 3 county limit. But I usually go to some surrounding counties and get 1 or 2 more.
Yep three more to go lol. Next year I will not be filling my buck tag until November unless it's bigger than anything I've ever shot before of course.
Yeah man I've killed a ton of deer with them. Never had one fail yet. I really don't see why so many people hate em.
Good luck Josh. I'll be tagging in for you tomorrow for rutcation and may be able to sneak in a hunt tonight. Either way the next 5 days are going to be mostly deer hunting except friday evening.
Back story: in 2015 I was diagnosed with Lyme Carditis and had a pacemaker installed to establish a minimum bpm to offset damage done to the electrical circuitry of the lower chamber of my heart. As an engineer, I tend to be a bit of a nerd and love technology. The pacer acts as a data logger and uses bluetooth connectivity to upload "performance data" to the Medtronic's patient server. I am required to upload quarterly with one upload being via office visit. I have set it up so the office visit is in November, since I like to visually see the impact hunting has on the graph. I went in this morning and found that "the miss" on the 29th had me at about 175bpm (second highest I've seen) and the kill shot happened so fast, I only hit high 150's. What a blessing...technology rocks.
That IS amazing. I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I have been in IT since 2012 and work in Cyber Security, so I get to deal with the not so pretty side of our current and emerging tech. I love to hear stories like yours where people's lives and lifestyles are improved by technology...blessing, indeed.
I'm real excited about tonight's hunt. My son was involved with my hunting for several years. Then he got mixed up with the wrong crowd and got into drugs. He has now been drug free since July and is really looking forward to becoming my hunting buddy again. I'm even giving him my best spot for tonight's hunt. I did tell him if he shoots my big boy I get to give him a free butt kicking.
So I get to my spot I call the back 9 and there's 2 interesting things I see. A trail camera that's not mine, but it's now became mine, and a huge giant rub about 23 yards to the left of my stand.
Hope your new trail cam is a good one and loaded with picks of the stud that tore that poor tree up. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
