I'm taking a day of rest today. Going out tomorrow around 9-10 o'clock and going to sit til dark. You know who I'll be after. Good luck to those out there today!!!!!
Well no deer for me the past 4 days. I had the one opportunity on a small 9 basket rack. But just couldnt take, besides I drew too late anyways. Glad I didnt take him after the fact anyways. Cant ever get a bigger one if you shoot the first little one. Most of the deer i'm seeing are in the morning between 8am-10am for some reason. I have off Thursday and Friday this week so i'll be in stand Thursday morning most likely for another 4 day weekend. Based on the rutting activity I saw the bigger ones should be out and moving by Thursday when I get back to hunting.
Getting set to head out for the evening. Shocker...it is raining. If I have learned one thing this year, it is that my rain gear is not good enough. Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
So I got in super early. as I was walking in I sprayed some buck bomb on some trees and some grass right to my stand. about 6:20 I heard a snort or blow I don't know why. the deer wasnt even down Wind of me yet but it could have been smelled the scent that I put out. at first light I had an 8-pointer come into where I sprayed the buck bomb. looked around and went the opposite way 20 minutes after I grunted about 5 times and three does came in and fed on front of me about 23 yards and they went over to a different stand we call the Yellow ladder and were Milling around all of a sudden the big doe that was with them runs right over by me looks up and is trying to bust me out I figured something had pushed her. I looked over and this guy was standing there I look at the doe and she's stomping on the ground. she finally turns and walks away. I grab my bow, looked over, the buck was gone. I take out my range finder, range the spot where it was, 35 yards. sure enough he was just behind a couple trees. he came out I had to shoot over Branch at 20 yards. **** and saw my arrow hit him right where I needed it to be. first I didn't think i had any penetration. my arrow broke off. after I got down and found my arrow. Look like only 4 inches. I turn the arrow over it was covered probably 8 inches of blood though. Called my buddy to bring his dog as he is starting to train him for recovery. I then walk about 15 yards on the blood trail. Very little blood. Look up ahead and there where 3 trees covered in blood, saw something brown piled up. Use my binos and saw a rack. Buck down! I waited for my buddy and let his dog find it. Beers, jager, and doctors after that!!
Nice! I'm on an ice buck that I think is around 140 class. Hope to contribute but I really just love the pursuit. Co grays guys. I'll be out 3 days straight at least thus week. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
By looking at this buck I scored him at 163. But either way unless he's on the ground it doesn't matter what he scores!
I'm going in between 9 and 10. We are suppose to get like 2 inches over night then it's suppose to stop around 8 or so in the morning. Going to sit all day waiting on my buddy to make an appearance.
We have an appointment in the morning to find out if baby #2 is a boy or girl. So I won't hit the woods until the afternoon.
Congratulations. Are you hoping for a particular gender? Sent from my XT1254 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I don't make girly girls, so it doesn't really matter to me. Another girl would be easier because we wouldn't have to repaint the nursery, buy new clothes, etc.
