Well I'm back home. We never could find blood and think he went into an open field. After grid searching and circling that we still had no blood and way too many tracks to pick one. I went into every creek and piece of water for a quarter mile. No sign of him. If the hit was high I'm thinking it may not have been fatal. More like hoping. This happened to me once years ago but even then I found some blood. Frigging mystery to me. I really thought the shot was good or I'd own up to it. Apparently not a good shot tho.

Saw one around 5:30. Think it was a small buck. At 6:30, I looked over by my stand on the edge that is by a bunch of scrapes and saw a definite shooter. He was working the scrapes. Picked wrong stand tonight I guess. Hopefully tomorrow morning will be the right stand.

Hey Shawn, what kind of rutting activity are you seeing? You aren't that far from me. The bucks are definitely out cruising here in medina county. I rattled in 3 different bucks this morning.

Actually not much so far. Tonight was actually the first shooter I saw on the hoof this season. He was working a couple scrapes. Had a couple smaller bucks respond to some grunts and that's about it. I'm expecting it to bust loose though here anytime. Going to sit in that new spot tomorrow where I saw that big buck on the cam.

Good luck. I'll probably be out again the morning after a doe. Seems like all I see now are bucks. Go figure.

First sit of my rut vacation is 37° and pouring rain. I heard deer all around before daylight, but haven't seen one yet.

Raining pretty good now. Just got down. Depending on rain, I may or may not get back out tonight

Good luck guys! I'm pretty sure we are awfully close to the beginning of rut. Bucks here are getting more aggressive and sloppy. I think our sweet spot is the 2nd through through the 12th here. I don't know how much I'll get out to the lease over the next few days, but I am off work the 8th-10th and will be in the stand as much as possible.
