Well I'm at work now. Headed up here yesterday. Drove through rain, sleet an snow. No luck for me yet. Monday did get interesting for me though. I went from spot an stalk on deer, elk and bear all within a half day. Both bears I was able to get within 20-70 yards of, but no clear shots. All stalks didn't go as planned. But I still have rifle season for elk and bear and another archery season for deer. Hoping that I can close the deal on all three. An extra bonus if I can make it happen for the wife also. One week an I'll be back home trying to close the deal,(deals). Good luck everyone. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Men...it is ridiculously hot here. This weekend was a wash for me as far as getting in the stand, but I did have time this evening to at least get in the stand. Our heat index was close to a hundred. NO THANKS. Now the good news. The following weekend has a high of 69, low of 49 with a high pressure of 30.20, and that is a damn fine combination for late September bow hunting. I hope some of you yankees further north aren't cooking. I kid. Hope you all are well, and still chomping at the bit for your respective openers.
It's terrible here in Ohio too. Good news is by the opener next Saturday daytime highs are showing in the mid 60's.
I'd love to see the temps and the deer drop for us! Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Man, i tell you, this yank is sweating buckets. I have rethought my complaint about family events in late Sept. They are probably a blessing. Hard to burn up stands this way.
Alright I'm no model obviously, but y'all get the idea. This is the finished product that the wife made for me. I can't wait till it's cold enough to test it. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Sorry that the pics are sideways. Not sure why that happened. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
With the way your beard is you might not need that, lol. I have my deer hunting beard. My wif hates it.
I doubt she would charge for another one off. Depends on if she has enough material. I'll hit her up later at home and see what she says. The beard....yeah the beard is pretty sweet for the cold but it ain't enough and my lady loves it. Lol. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I know there were at least a few others not making it out this weekend. But, is anyone planning on braving the heat?
Not me. I have the kids so I'm not sweating it. Ah thank you. I'll shoot some more since my bow is doing something funky. Could be me. Idk so I'm going to find out. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm headed out to my main property to cut firewood. I help the old timer every year to earn permission to hunt his place.
My pee wee football team (12&U) lost a slugfest this morning. We gave up 30# across the line to the other team but they went toe to toe in a heck of a game. Now off to the inlaw bday party. I wish I could have made it out to check my cameras before the party. Maybe tomorrow.
I just found out that one of my cooler hunting spots will now be shared with a gun hunter. It's only 5 acres, but it is THE 5 acres to hunt in this 300 acre chunk of woods. If the place wasn't so awesome during the rut, I would just throw in the towel.
Those are some great bucks! I wouldn't worry about the gun hunter too much, if I were you I would get his info and give a call.
