Nope. While glassing I found a water tank that was getting lots of action. There was a big bodied deer that came up from the tank right at close, but I couldn't make out antlers.

The forecast was calling for heavy rain last night, so we wandered over to the local pub and enjoyed some wildfire wheat beer. Delicious. We will probably be heading back out in a couple hours. Screenshot_20170915-083648.png

Some nice velvet bucks being put down. Is it just me, but velvet bucks just doesnt do it for me. Something about a nice buck showing off all that bone. Just doesnt have the same appeal when they look all fuzzy.

Two weeks and counting here in Ohio. So I wondering your guys opinions on my new bow set up. I shoot mechanicals and have always shot 70lbs. I've been having some serious back pain and I was thinking about setting the new rig at 60lbs.
I'm wondering if 60lbs will be enough to stick with mechanicals.

    Draw length is 29.5
    125 gr broad head
Arrow finished weight is 445 grains
    Foc is 10.8%
    Mathews z3 set at 60lbs
    I don't know fps

Well I shoot a 60 drenalin and killed with schwackers last year. That being said I'm going with fixed slick trick 100 grains this year. The doe I killed went all of 50 yards but no pass through and she snapped the arrow on the run which sent the broadband thru her guts. The math works for ke in some cases I think but it is close from my fuzzy attempts. I'm sticking with fixed. Pun intended.

I like the idea of fixed blade actually, I've only used mechanical since I started bow hunting again after several years off. How hard is it to get them to fly like field points. I've always loved the fact it was never an issue with my mechanicals.

I am a fixed blade guy (Muzzy Trocar), but to each their own. At 60# you wouldn't have issues with a mechanical at a reasonable ranges.

The slick tricks fly true for me with no real change in flight. I do recommend that you practice at least a few shots with them tho. I always liked the peace of mind in that respect. Others swear by some other ones out there, but I only know what I have tried. Never tried the Trocar, but the other fixed Muzzy's (100 grain standards) always hit different for me. After sighting them in they were always good and killed efficiently, but there is the extra step of sighting them in (not the same point of aim as my field tips). Just my .02.

Congrats on the new rig. As far as mechanical or fixed. I'd go with a good fixed broadhead. I feel that if the math is to close for the KE for a mechanical to work right then why worry about failure. Go in confident knowing that your BH is gonna work. As far as which BH flies close to FP I shoot the wasp drones. I know there's others out there that work. These are just what I've found that work best for me. Only had to make a small vertical adjustment to get them to hit together.

First two photos we were 6800-7100' on a spot an stalk mission. The second two are from our stands. We went up yesterday afternoon an pulled our stands and our cams in the rain/sleet and snow. There were just way to many people moving in close to where we were. We went from pics everyday to nothin for four days. So today we are gonna go check the new spot an hang cams. Then go out for spot an stalk tonight an tomorrow. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Had to scrap the evening hunt today. Middle daughter is going to homecoming so there is a young man I have to put the fear of God in here in an hour. I'll be out in that AM hoping that North wind and 20 degree temp swing gets a buck moving. I'll be between him and his bed about 5 in the morn.

I spent the last week planting 3k trees in Cleveland. Mother nature paid me back with the worst poison ivy of my life. 20170916_121449.jpg
