At a buddies for beers tonight and it turns into me going to get a Tactacam cell cam tomorrow.... Going to get a game plan and a stand hung for the big guys I have on cam. I haven’t busted into the woods at all. Time to get the kill plan going. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heading out to do some scouting. Some new stops and some old ones to verify acorns and to find a new creek crossing. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
So had both a good day scouting and a frustrating day. The good part is I found some white oak stands that are very secluded with good trails coming to them. The frustrating part is I found two mineral sites which is illegal in Wisconsin. I could care less if people do it on their private land but when it is on public in spots I would like to hunt it frustrates me. I did see something kind of cool. Nothing pisses me off more than finding someone breaking the law when it comes to hunting. I bust my a$$ off to make things happen on public land. I've gone entire seasons without seeing a deer. Some seasons I've only seen one deer. Some worthless piece of sh!t feels that he is above the law and feels that he is better than the rest of us and the law does not apply to him. Last year I found a pile of apples in the woods in a spot I was going to hunt. I called the game warden and met him at the parking lot and brought him right to it. If you want it on public land you have to EARN it! Grrr!! As far as the snake goes....GTFOH with that sh!t!!!!!! I hate snakes!!!
If I saw a snake like that, there would be some high pitched shrieks, followed by a barrage of rocks thrown at thing lol! I cannot stand snakes!
At least he went the other way. He was the biggest snake that I have ever seen in the wild. Really don't care for them and that's why I would have a hard time hunting down south. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm feeling pretty good about our team, I think we can be competitive. We have some big buck slayers for sure!
Good friends are in CO after mulies. The spotter has been taking us through the hunt the last 2 hours. They have this buck at 27 yards with no shot. Contemplating throwing a rock to get it to stand up. Exhilarating stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Things are looking fairly tight with the recurve, I feel confident I will make a clean kill under 15 yards.(this is at 10 yards) Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I love that you are using a recurve! I've been wanting to make that jump for a few years now. I shot a majority of my bowhunting/archery career with fingers, and have messed around with a low poundage recurve for a bit a few years ago building muscle memory and form. Shooting instinctively to me is the most rewarding style of archery. Every shot at a target is enjoyable. How did you take the plunge?
Thank You! I decided to learn to shoot a recurve in 2018. my grandfather had given me his old bow about 6 years prior to that, a 50# Howatt hunter. But I couldn't even string it at the time, and I wasn't too interested in learning. Then in 2018 he suffered a pretty serious stroke, and he has other major health concerns. It dawned on me that my Grandfather would not be around for too much longer. So I decided that I was going to do my best to learn to shoot recurve, and take a deer with his bow, hopefully while he is still alive. So I purchased a Samick Sage two years ago with 30# limbs, and have been working on building muscle memory and solid form. Earlier last year I got 45# limbs for it and I am ready to take it hunting. I can shoot his bow, but its still pretty heavy, and my groupings are not that great. I'll probably stick with the samick sage in the woods this year. I really enjoy shooting instinctively. In fact, I think I enjoy it as much as being in the woods(if not more).
